I’m getting more and more interested in this one as this thread develops.
An aircraft that hovers in a stiff breeze. Can’t wait.
Oh, very nice! Looking forward to this!
Will keep you in mind when the time comes, thanks for the offer!
Love to see the excitement! We are working hard on it!
@BurstixTV That would be great! Maybe we can organize a group flight on release day, over Duxford for exampe =)
From googling the codes it looks like it belongs to 45th infantry division who fought mainly in the Italian campaign. The other aircraft in the photo are a Piper L-4 and Stinson L-5. It wasn’t unusual for units to use captured enemy aircraft. Numerous Storches and Bf-108s were also used by the RAF.
Please consider this livery, the Collings Foundation Storch in Hudson/Stow, MA…
Great pictures!
It’s still part of the collection =)
Glad it’s still there! I need to go back soon; I wish they’d reinstitute Fly Days.
Allen’s death and his sister’s continued drive to turn history, research, and culture into cash have had a really negative effect on learning and entertainment opportunities in the Seattle area.
Really hope to see some captured schemes, such as the awesome scheme used by Air Vice Marshall Broadhurst’s captured Storch, complete with invasion stripes in one incarnation.
When I posted these pics I took of the Flying Heritage Collection’s Storch, I didn’t realize its historically accurate paint scheme would be a violation of the forum’s terms of service, given the context. So apologies, had no desire to violate the TOS. So, a little bit of generative fill on the rudder courtesy of Photoshop, and the symbol is gone. Just sharing these as I assume that folks reading this topic would be interested in seeing a currently flying Storch, and that maybe we’ll see the FHCAM’s scheme for the ThirdWind bird!
Great shots!
BrownDog, the one who shared this with me, said it makes perfect sense because after he was in North Africa, he was stationed in Italy, that is great. I am sitting here chatting with him now, he is very happy to hear that we got an answer to this! Thanks!
I don’t know how I didn’t find this, I googled it too and could not find anything! If you find any more info, or even pictures, please share them here!
If you can, join the Discord from the link at the main post, and shoot me a reminder at some point. I will greatly appreciate that. We also have more behind the scenes stuff there in a channel where we post updates a little more!
Yes, let’s do it! Did you join the Discord from the link at the top of the post? Will be easier to keep track for me as the forums only give me one email a day rather than notify me instantly like Discord does when someone messages!
I wanted to tell everyone that all the excitement from this post has generated even more excitement on our end! We were already itching to get this thing to a point where we can fly it in sim for testing, but you all have definitely raised it up a notch so thank you much!
We will be posting here regularily, but I am only being honest when I say that my Discord channel will inevitably have more updates, photos, news etc. on the Storch than the forum due to how much we use Discord. It is after all our develepment main hub for communication, so if you haven’t joined, you can do so to get the most information possible about the development of this bird!
Don’t worry, we will still make sure to take very good care to bring as much info as we can to this forum post too! Make sure to share this forum post with anyone you think would love the Storch! Group flight buddies, flightsim friends etc.!
Awesome, that’ll be fun! Yes, I joined the Discord group =) I’m not very active on Discord at the moment, but I’ll make sure to pop in there more often.
Looking forward to this.
Theres actually two airworthy Storchs here in Norway.
One is supposedly the AC with most original parts still flying (article in Norwegian):
He got tons of original blueprints and manuals for it.
