It’s not dead.
I don’t know about the FSTL project, but “this sim” is all but dead. I’ve been simming since 1991, FS4 and successors, several XP versions and Prepar3d since 1.2. As a VFR flyer I’ve never had so much fun with a sim as with MSFS - right now.
No doubt AI paintings are nasty. However, Prepar3d5 has been released with severe issues, notably using EA, and several of them are still waiting to be cured - and according to my experience some never will be.
So you are going from this “dead sim” to another dead sim that is rotten to the core? Whatever makes you happy.

No, she said there would be some sort of announcement, the one she said would be coming soon in previous posts.
She said they were going for a match 3rd release, but the discord has been dead. Question tickets go unanswered.
She never said a March 3rd release, she said March 3 for the next news post, but then that ended up being the first week of February instead.
It’s not dead, it’s all about rights and painting everything all over again.
No wonder its so hard to follow the project when its publicist says one thing then does another.

Right now we are just waiting for the all clear on what models and paintkits are okay to use so we don’t get destroyed with copyright claims.
This is because we have to paint from scratch to avoid any copyright infringement, and we don’t want to paint all these liveries only for the model maker to say that we can’t use his model and then start again.

Yup, though i recall one of the Asobo guys saying how they are doing actual plane models and not generic ones. Hopefully there will be paintkits for those so we can just get a move on
Yeah, Jorg hinted that there might be French made aircraft in the next World Update, so probably airbuses.
Though I wouldn’t expect an official paint kit, as Asobo doesn’t use textures for their liveries, they build them into the model.
Military bases and air traffic like MAIW are badly needed. Man, I miss MAIW. I wonder how many years out this might be.
Will there also be a revision of the current models?
The current AI Airbus models (a330 and a380) are terrible.

We are following threads like this one closely, but we haven’t started any “official” development for MSFS nor are we even trying until Asobo can deliver an improved and stable offline AI traffic system.
Some community members did seem to have limited success with getting our traffic to at least show up so there’s hope.
Glad you have taken an interest in this. I used MAIW for years and I really miss it since I switched to other sims a few years back. Military bases are much needed on MSFS2020. If they ever get AI traffic working right, like you say…
