I mostly fly with live weather enabled, and the sea is always uniformly flat. As you discovered, you need to use a custom weather preset to see ocean / sea waves.

As example, near Genoa, live weather is around 5 to 8 knots wind. Sea is relatively calm.
If you set up custom weather and turn on wind with 8 knots you get already rough sea.

It would be great if Asobo could ingest a feed of maritime/nautical weather reports and reflect the sea state correctly. Images work best sometimes, so here’s an example from a pleasure flight at the weekend.
