I’m in the “2020 is working without issue for me now” camp, but curious to see the release notes once the Beta drops.
Except for the fact that you have to reboot your computer to restart the sim…
That means nothing, MSFS 2020 doesn’t have seasons. Do as he said and try other season in 2024 and you will get the green grass.
Hi,
Now we have May, i.e. it’s spring time. The grass here is green IRL almost all year round.
Fact is that the entire Alps region is botched in MSFS 2024.
Sad but true.
WoooHooo! Bring on SU16!!!

Why do I have to do that?
I have just spent the last two months trying to fly the Daher TBM930 in FS2024 SU2 beta.
Asobo were determined to stop me, however. They have already inflicted on me various “upgraded” but incorrect, unrealistic features which have not been corrected in SU2, In particular:
- Windscreen reflections (where the reflected rays pass through the plane as if it were glass). Passing over a high contrast area, the front view becomes a firework display.
- Stationary propeller shadows, even when on full speed. A dev has obviously seen the sync effect on a video, and assumed it happens in real life. (Spoiler: it doesn’t)
In addition, during SU2, they decided to “upgrade” the engine exhaust fumes distortion to a cartoonish level. An awful regression (especially in VR), but one they insisted on keeping in the final release of SU2. So that’s probably here to stay.
Needless to say, none of these effects are present in the rather more advanced FS2020.
If these are typical of the upgrades to be included in FS2020 SU16, I would certainly vote against such an update.
Hi,
I think live weather never works correctly in both sim…
Skip the beta! Develop and deliver without breaking anything. Guess that never ever will happens.
Don’t let 2020 end up in the gutter like 2024
No,it’s not going to magically fix Xbox issues! If this developer hasn’t been able to fix they’re issues in 15 updates, what makes them think that will happen with this one?
Given this developers track record of breaking instead of fixing,i for one OPPOSE
This soon to be ‘‘breaking’’ sim update!
Just leave well enough alone and concentrate on '‘Fixing’'2024.
I find the topic of this thread, and some of the comments, rather amusing. Many people were complaining SU16 was delayed and were all doom and gloom because they thought Asobo had abandoned 2020.
Now that SU16’s release date is on the horizon, people are still complaining…lol.
It’s going to be released and that’s a fact. Hoping it will be a great release for all.
I think you don’t realise just how many have stuck with 2020..A LOT more than you think.I’ve tried 2024.Nope!!,no good for me.If it works for you then that’s fine.Don’t belittle those still happy with 2020.Cheers.
Because of this:
I like to do tweaks to my planes, and the only way to get them to register is for the sim to be fully shut down. Even with using the Task Manager to kill whatever is left running after a “normal” shutdown, something is still running that prevents my changes from registering. But if I restart the whole box, it registers.
Leave 2020 for us pilots and concentrate on fixing the photography, career and missions in 2024 for those who use and enjoy them…which I do not but others do.
Having two types of simulator should be an advantage to everyone.
2020 may still be buggy but at least it works for serious free-flight. If it gets broken, it will be as useless as 2024 is currently.
I think a better title for this thread would be “Asobo, please properly test SU16 for 2020, before releasing it.”
Hear Hear. This x1000
I fully understand and support your concerns. We deserve at least one product that works.
As a MSFS2020-only user, I hope they treat this and any future updates as maintenance releases only. Fix bugs, add mandatory changes that might be triggered by a Windows update or GPU driver change, but no new features. Don’t mess with the SDK. Don’t trigger breakages with current 3rd party content. I would be fine if they don’t try to backport 2024 items. Don’t worry about the aerials. Keep it simple.
How many days/weeks does it take usually when Asobo say something “coming very soon”?
Probably about 12 months I expect!
