ATC-Chatter is being developed for FS2020

Do the WAV files work on the X-Plane version of X-ATC-Chatter? They should work but ATC-Chatter is a but fussy about the WAV format that is supported. There are a number of WAV to mp3 converters out there that will let you batch convert them to mp3 files.

I would be curious how many of you use LittleNavMap.

The latest beta of LittleNavMap is able to create a navigation database from the FS2020 scenery files that has COM data in it for the FS2020 airports. Although FS-ATC-Chatter comes with a COM database I’m concerned that it might not match the scenery you have loaded. It is going to be pretty easy for me to add an option that if I see a copy of the LittleNavMap database in the FS-ATC-Chatter folder I would read it rather than the 833-FacilityCache.csv.

Thoughts?

No mark they don’t work on xplane either. However, I will batch convert them and see if it does the trick. Probably it will read the mp3 this time.
Thanks for the tip!!

Sounds good, let us know how you make out with it.

Hi Mark, I converted all my uk atc chatter files to mp3 format, now it works like a charm ! I can now fly throughout the UK with UK chatter in my custom region controllers folder now. It works !!:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Were they legally obtained, can they be legally distributed??

I got them on flightsim.com,and had them since the old fs98 days. Just search UK atc chatter in the file library. Also, if you owned radar contact atc addon, also an oldie, there are plenty UK chatter files in the chatter directory of that program with separate folders for departure, clearance etc, I got the rest there. They are all wavs, so you have to convert them to mp3, to be able to read by x atc chatter, and put them in the folders within the custom controllers folder.worked!!

Thanks for the info. Mark might be interest in more UK files - hopefully.

So the challenge with U.K. files is it is illegal to record ATC communication in the U.K. That is why there are no U.K. feeds on LiveATC.net which is where our volunteers curate them from.

Hi Mark,

I noticed ATC Chatter uses between 7 and 9% of my CPU. Is this normal? Other programs like Navigraph Charts or Little Navmap use around 0.1%.

Great program checking it out now - thanks much

It is better if you minimize the window. The GUI tool kit I’m using can be a bit heavy. I’ll take a look to make sure I’m not spending more CPU than I need to.

Mark

Thanks, Mark.

Edit: Minimized window doesn’t make any difference here.

@UpmostSquire826 in the payware version, do you provide chatter for all parts of the world? including Africa, Asia?

Asia is pretty well populated with clips but there is very little for Africa and South America. I would love to find some volunteers to help with that. You can see the current clip counts in the description here:

I think I have improved performance when minimized in the next beta. I basically stop trying to render the UI when minimized. On my system the FS-ATC-Chatter process takes .6% when minimized with the next beta and 5% when the window is open.

Mark

Can you clarify? I would like to get the additional clips. Should I wait for the full MSFS version to go on sale or if i purchase the X-plane version, can I use those clips on the MSFS?

Thanks so much, great so far!

Purchase the xplane version, you’ll never regret it!!

And the clips work on msfs!

The problem I have with this is the clips start playing over the regular ATC and it becomes a mess and I can’t listen to ATC. If there is a way to make the clips stop playing when the sim ATC speaks please tell me.
