Aviat Husky

If I only had the money. But my first choice would be the G58 Baron for sure. Not much cance of seeing a 195 way to old for most Simmers. The 180 and 185 are a staple in Alaska so I would expect at least the 185 to show up relitively soon.

Love the Husky. Had turned into my everyday flyer until the Junkers. Now I’m spending my evenings with that joy of a plane. But I do love the Husky for bush trips.

Well old dog can learn new tricks. I have flown anfibs and never heard of such a warning. In the past I always had to know whether I was landing on water or land watch the lights (if available) and gear handle and plan acordingly. I saw the caution light (yellow in my case) but couldn’t read the plackard. Thanks to your guidance I moved my mouse to hover over the area and it told me what to do. Worked beautifuly. Thanks for your help. Most of my sea time I didn’t have to worry about landing gear water was the only choice. Modern technology isn’t it wonderful.

I know that Asobo was probably trying to keep it simple, or stay true to form, but some of the Aviat Aircraft Husky A-1C instrument packages (not included) do offer “autopilot”.
It would have been nice if Asobo would have added the option for AP.

Definitely agree on this point. AP would have catapulted this to the top of the bush planes for me. Still great for shorter flights, but if I’m going to fly longer distances, I tend to use a Bush League Legends Cub.

I’ve not used it, but one could cheat and use the poor-mans AP, but using the AI pilot to hold heading and Alt. I might have to give this a try on my next long leg of my current flight plan covering all NZ.

What’s the climb performance of the real Husky like.? It seems to take ages to climb to just 1000 feet AGL with a full load of fuel onboard. Has anyone else noticed that?

I’ve not had any issues with the Rate of Climb for the Husky myself… While not a direct comparison to the A-1C, there is a link posted above to the A-1Bs Pilot Operating Handbook (see below quote). According to that, you should probably be seeing around 1350 FPM of climb at Sea Level, in about 60 F temperature at your best rate of climb of 74 MPH.

The Xcub and Zlin are both a bit cartoonish in their climb capabilities so by comparison the Husky feels sluggish in this department, but it actually performs really close to POH.

On the Nevada bush trip I think I climbed the Zlin through 12k feet with no drop in performance lol.

Same for me. I really like the husky a lot, but don’t use it for cross country flights due to lack of AP.. With AP it would be my number one bush plane for everything. On a flightsim cross country flying without AP isn’t really fun for me.

I have to say, after some initial doubts, I am liking this aircraft more and more

Really makes you wonder where Asobo’s mind was at when they created this AC, being that Aviat offers it with several instrument variations with AP being an option.

I’m still waiting for an update to fix some of the issues, so far they done nothing to offer the other liveries with the bush / tundra version, couldn’t understand this to begin with.

The fact that there have been multiple updates to the sim since the Husky was released, yet I can’t get them to fix the Garmin aera 760 when its popped out from the instrument panel. It still rotates 90 degrees to the left; this would be okay if what was displayed also rotated. This particular Garmin I believe is labeled as a portable, and will dis play in either in the vertical or horizontal position, maybe this is where Asobo got confused.

Pulling from the notes for the System Update 6 Flight (see below), they appear to be correcting the Aera issues. As for the AutoPilot, I really don’t find that to be an issue as the Husky is fairly easy to trim out for the most part and only requires minor tending to for longer flights.

Avionics

-Aera Flight Plan has been completely remodeled to better match the real Aera
-The external view of the Aera in portrait mode is now in the right orientation

About time they addressed the issue for the Aera. But I don’t care if you trim it out perfectly, it won’t hold heading or altitude. I’ve left it flying flat and level, walked away to hit the restroom, came back with vector change of 20 - 45 degrees, and because its in slight turn, its loosing alt. I can’t see how hard it would have been to add the option of AP, its not like they have to write any new code since multiple AC in the sim have AP.
Was there any mention as to why only the standard version has access to the other liveries?

That Aera in Husky looks more like a miniature G3X. Can Aera display speed, altitude, and synthetic vision?
Edit: Indeed, it can … I have just checked. Hard to believe you get that in a tablet.

Whelp, it appears the Com radio in the Husky now doesn’t turn on (Xbox). Did they even touch the Husky in the update?

You need to go to content manager and update the Husky from there. There are updates for other things too.

I recently could check out a 760 in RL, the guy who had bought it also bought the ADS-B box for it and what I had in my hand could do most things a GTN 750 does, same UI, traffic, NEXRAD, syn vision etc. all in a small device for like 2,000 bucks. Pretty cool.

I was hoping that by “making Aera more like the real thing” Asobo would actually add V-speed to the 3d view mode… like in the real thing… but nope… they removed the V-speed from the map. There isn’t any V-speed indication in the airplane anymore. Kind of disappointing.

Now I have to trim it for cruise in the external view.

Thank you, no updates were showing because of server issues, this fixed the com radio.
