[AzurPoly Group] - Transall C-160

Anyone else having issues with how the flares look on the 2024 native version ?
I have tried clearing my DX shader cache and MSFS 2024 rolling cache but none of that helped.
I’m running RTX 4080 Super on latest drivers. The smoke effect and light is completely gone during daytime, and during night time the smoke is barely visible.

Hi,

I guess the 2024 Native version isn’t on the MSFS Marketplace yet, right ?

Because I don’t seems to be smart enough to find a way to update my good old 1.5 version right now.

Nope, still waiting!

Is it something I’m doing, or is the autopilot on the C160 (2024 native) a bit, umm, venerable. It can’t follow a radio beam to save itself. It will get you to somewhere pretty close to the VOR or FMS waypoint you want, it will stay within 10 degrees of a localiser, all the while wobbling from side to side like a drunken sailor.

Screenshot one has 2 tracks, the C160 following a radio beam and the DA42 following the magenta line to the same VOR station.

Screenshot 2 is the C160 on an ILS approach, it was established on the localiser about 10 nm out from the airport so it has had plenty of time to work out where it should be going.

I don’t have the aircraft yet, but what was the weather?

variable wind speed, direction, gusting. Even by a few degrees or knots, could very easily explain that flight path.

Azurpoly sent it to the marketplace at the same time as they sent it to all the other stores, it’s now at the mercy of microsoft’s arbitrary “we only publish new releases / updates once a week” policy.

I bought it again from JustFlight (because reward dollars lol). I didn’t get the update price but I don’t mind supporting the devs and I’m not a marketplace customer any more, I’m happy with that.

Normally I use real weather but it’s all gales and thunderstorms here at the moment so I set it to clear skies, no wind. I noticed the same thing last night in live weather with 30 kt winds and put it down to the wind, but tonight it didn’t have that excuse.

I should have posted before, that you can register yourself at Contrails to be a C160 marketplace customer and after a few hours you can download the MS24 update just paying the update fee. That has worked for me on Friday last week.

How do you do that ? I looked on the list of accounts I could link but the marketplace didn’t seem to be there. I have a couple of other fs2020 marketplace planes that I would love to turn into fs2020 Contrail planes.

edit : found it. Pretty simple, but not linked account simple  You need to visit Contrail Order Transfer and fill in what you want to transfer and your msfs username, attach a screenshot of the aircraft listing in the in-sim marketplace saying “owned”, hit submit, and wait for an email saying you now own it in Contrail (it’s a manual process, can take a day or so, I got my answer in about an hour).

No regrets about paying full price for my 2024 C-160 though, no problem supporting good devs.

edit 2 : found all this out when I tried to transfer my AP TB-30 Epsilon from marketplace to Contrail. Declined because I’m a ummm let’s say I’m a short Richard. Made the mistake of sending in a screenshot of it in my library saying it was installed, has to be the actual marketplace listing saying it’s owned. So I looked at the marketplace listing and it didn’t say owned - turns out I bought the C-160 in the marketplace but I got the TB-30 from Orbx  :man_facepalming:

Was observing it when it was released back in 2020 but didn’t make the jump, now with the native 2024 version I’ve finally bought in. Wow, it just smells like adventure

Love the millions of switches, the sounds, the vibrations and that it can be comfortably flown radio navigation only. Plus, there is a livery for an airline and not just military/organizations, which is perfect for me, because I prefer civilian aircraft.

Performance is fine, but I’m only flying from small airports in Indonesia for now, would imagine it wouldn’t be great on Heathrow

But just one question for more experienced C160 pilots. How do I set the trim for takeoff? There are takeoff tables, but they seem to be only for the V speeds and distance as far as I can see.

On the Trimwheel is a Scale and i set 0.5 backwards. TOW is 38.4 t.

It depends in which way your PX, cargo, fuel and mission equipment has been loaded, but that 0.5 backwards is a good starting point.
Normally, you trim the Transall +/- 0.1 for every +/- 1% deviation from the ideal center of gravity (which is 30.8% MAC). But be careful, that was valid for german C-160s.
I checked within the sim, where you can configure the aircraft. Here you have a neutral CG of 15%. Maybe that derrives from the refueling probe that only the french “NG” version had.

You are thinking aboput that? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Well, to be more precise, about that:

Well guessed

Thank you guys above for all of the trim tips.

Just moved my C-160 from Marketplace to Contrail - very easy to do, took from morning to late afternoon to move it, downloaded and flew the 2024 version same evening.

Fantastic to know I can move things out of marketplace if they are also carried by Contrail!

If its not too long an answer …how did you do that?

From the post above. Just make sure to follow the instructions on how to take a screenshot that shows you own the plane in marketplace - needs to also show your MS user name.

Many thanks for that ….might try that myself later.

Doh, sorry …just realised if I had read a few posts up it was already mentioned!

Update: Just transferred and took less than an hour!
Thanks for the info

Just to complete the topic:

Look what I found out just before:
You can change the MAC of the aircraft in “configuration” when you choose the aircraft.
So, 28-29% MAC is a good value for an empty aircraft (basic weight).
