Being a passenger in MSFS

I want to know if it is possible to have the AI system to all the following things:

  1. Pushback the aircraft
  2. Taxi to the runway
  3. Take off
  4. Fly
  5. Land
  6. Taxi to the gate

I am asking this so that you can easily then fly in the plane as a passenger from point A to point B and walk around the flight deck.

It would also be interesting if the passenger aircraft like the A320, 747-800 and 777 had interiors in them and openable cabin and lavatory doors.

Another point is that maybe you can spawn on foot inside the airport terminal look for the next departing flight and board if you are flying as a passenger.

Do you pretend to use the lavatory also as passenger? I guess this would involve wearing some sort of nappy/ diaper IRL…

In answer to your question, in theory all the actions listed can be performed by AI, however in practice, a full flight under AI control is still very buggy (from what I have seen)

No nappy needed for realism!

Set a bucket in a small closet a straight walk behind your PC.

The AI Pilot is supposed to be able to do this. My experience is VERY mixed. Generally (not always!) pushback/taxi/take off are OK and it usually follows the flight plan. Descent and landing are where things generally become unstuck.

To try it, set up a flight plan, load in the plane, then turn on AI Copilot from the (I think) assistance icon from the top menu bar…and pray!

If you want some laughs, worth flickign through this thread from August last year:

Charlie was bad enough then. I think he’s worse now because I suspect his coding has not been updated along with the sim updates and so all the changes to aircraft, avionics, flight model etc have not been built into his “thinking”…

This bit you could mimick with the drone camera

Until airport terminals are built into MSFS, there is a partial solution available.

  • Enable Live Traffic in General Options (Data and Traffic)
  • Go to World Map.
  • Enter a random airport for arrival.
  • Enter the airport identifier for the departure airport.
  • The airport information is displayed in a box on the right side of the screen.
  • Click on “Live Airport Activity”.
  • The AIRPORT ACTIVITY PANEL opens to display Departures and Arrivals for that airport.
  • Select any flight to have MSFS create and load a flight plan for that flight. Only departure and destination airports are in the flight plan. If you want to use SIDs, STARs, and/or approaches, you need to enter them. Even though the Live Airport Activity shows Flight ID and Plane Type, these are not carriers forward into the World Map flight plan.
  • Close the AIRPORT ACTIVITY PANEL.
  • GO FLY!

heres what i do if i just want the passenger experience i book a flight online and go on it

no seriously i do a number of flights using flight recorder or similar replay application then i replay that flight from the wing view and have something like luke air tool to playback cabin announcements its actually quite fun but i do this when I’m
to tired to pilot and end up falling asleep anyway so i guess just as in real life then.

In theory, the AI copilot can do everything.

In reality, it’s hit or miss if Left Turn Larry will actually get you to your destination safely or not. The functionality is there. The ability, not so much. At least not reliably all the time.
