For folks who have challenges downloading the sim, please note No. 2 in the FAQ:
2. Will I be able to revert back to the retail version if I would like to opt out?
You would need to uninstall and reinstall the sim if you wish to revert back to the retail version, as well as opt out via your user profile on our website.
Strange that there was no criteria this time like PC specs. Basically the first 300 people who signed up are in the beta.
Hmmm… Steam users can’t participate?
I signed up, but my request still says pending after several minutes with the activity indicator still spinning. After a restart, I reopen xBox insider and see it still says pending with the activity indicator spinning. Hopefully that means I’m in the beta and it is just pending until I download the update on the 7th.
I always back up my packages directory to an HDD before any update. In case I have to uninstall the whole thing and reinstall at least I have the old package data. I would certainly recommend it in this case.
Don’t think so.. it should have opened the store and in the insider hub you should see a page with two buttons on it ‘manage’ and ‘store’ I think
I just went back and I have that now, looks like i’m in!
That was fast, haha. Full capacity reached.
A little weird that there is no criteria.
I send an email and they said that the world update beta test is only available to users who purchased MSFS2020 through the MS Store.
I think a option for Steam users would be installing the Game Pass version, through it would be a lot of pain for that.
can you install the Steam and MS Store versions alongside each other…?
Odd way to select beta testers… first 300 ones… doesnt mean good beta testers… but nothing surprises me with the Asobo Dev Team. I have 30 years of experience working as a professional developer and architect and the Asobo team keeps showing how amateur their dev/test process is, but hey, they are there and I am a consumer in this case so probably someone knows better than me on how they are selected and structured.
How many will quit after testing the new stuff couple of days later…
Cant believe they went that way.
& Screw those that are sleeping when signup went live
So those of us who missed the World Update IV signup will remain in the original Long Term Beta Testing Program. Otherwise known as MSFS 2020. ![]()
I thought about then made up my mind not to, when I read about the uninstalling/reinstalling part. I’ll let those 300 chosen ones suffer the pain first…lol
■■■■■■ if they do and ■■■■■■ if they don’t. Such negativity.
Continuous missteps are not the same as doing the right things hence ■■■■■■ if they do and ■■■■■■ if they don’t doesn’t apply to this.
Okay, although I think the testing timing itself is pretty short but can we get over these negative rants? At least they have now beta testing infrastructure and I hope it will get better in the future
Yep , it’s just baffling. The ‘community’ , whatever that really is, asks for something, pushed for it, requests it, you name it, and Asobo go with it.
Anyone with half a nonce would be thinking ‘That’s progress, this is a good thing to do.’ More people testing something with different setups and systems can only be a good thing right; an opportunity to potentially catch stuff before release or provide Asobo with some valuable data/information TO MAKE THE SIM BETTER’.
But no, they did it the wrong way, someone didn’t set their alarm, Steam users got left out, just another ‘continuous misstep’ , etc. etc. so yes, these guys are doomed if they do, and doomed if they don’t. Your idiom is spot on. ![]()
Nope sorry. There are two choices - do the beta, or don’t do the beta. You’d rather they did neither which makes no sense.
Some people lookk at the world therough cynical and negative eyes. That’s fine if you want to be continually disappointed with the world. Personally I’d rather be positive, assume positive intent (coz I’m very sure they are not trying to screw this up) and enjoy myself.
Your choice - just don’t force it on the rest of us.
