Beta Signup is Live [Now Closed]

Good luck, but just one thing more. Can we (i.e. ‘unofficial beta testers’ as some call us) also get the names of the other 298 official beta testers so we can have a few (unkind) words with them on this forum if obvious bugs are released despite their beta testing.

Congrats to those who got in, dont forget to pack a parachute!

Haha that would imply we aren’t seasoned veterans of the internet :joy:

But seriously, it’ll certainly be interesting. Looking forward to it!

(You guys know we can’t say anything until release anyway, right?)

Self-protection claim tip for the 300: Sorry, we can’t say anything because of the NDA.

Seriously: Thank you to the 300 for their bravery and effort. But, we will be watching you :face_with_monocle:
to give you further words of adoration.
:innocent:

Please do not threaten other forum members.

I have noted your dislike of threats of words of adoration.

Don’t ever try and make sense of MS/Asobo’s beta tester criteria. No criteria actually makes better sense with them.

I think they should round you all up and lock you away until release, Fly 24/7 then I would be jelous..A note from Asobo to be excused from work..due to very important top secret work  although I dont think the NHS will go for it

The next community post will be “Signups to manage Beta test program now open” (I kid, I kid)

@VeryOldPilot now now, I watched your post edit pop up right in front of my eyes. You’re not playing fair

@JWATTS0275 that does sound like a lot of fun!

Sure you will be fed, pay 5 star hotel. Fly first class.

Or Fly yourself to the destination

This plot is starting to make sense now. Microsobo is setting up 300 fall guys to take the blame.

As noted in the pre-announce blog yesterday this is the first test. Clearly the size is smaller and so is the window for the test. Our goal is to hopefully have more opportunities in the future that span from tests like these to other endeavors for those who are interested in doing more and helping others.

We did our best to provide everyone time to view the post letting know about the signup, but we knew that this 300 slot would fill up fast.

Keep the big picture in mind, we are here for the long haul.

Just the first of hopefully man tests. Criteria and objectives will change if/when we do more. Thank you for your interest. It means just as much that people are bummed to not get in or the “lack of criteria” as it does to have the 300 help us.

Ideally you should have a permanent beta branch in the future.

Doesn’t matter if you have 30 years experience. How much effort will it take to verify each beta tester against criteria like this beforehand? At the end of the day each beta tester paid for the same product as you and therefore their views are equally as important.

I would suggest reading the MS post again. They don’t want beta testers specifically to find bugs. They want beta testers to test performance. That’s what their post said. Most likely to avoid the performance issues encountered after the last World Update.

I highly doubt they will fix any bugs found by beta testers unless they are critical. That’s also proven in the timelines since the testers will only begin their work 1 week before release.

Reading the posts on this thread, the almost wild speculative assumptions are just laying the groundwork for more unrealistic complaints post release.

Thanks for your subjective opinion about the goals pursued by MS with their beta testing. I would also suggest to you that you too read the MS post again - and perhaps request some insider knowledge which you can share here.
See MS post:
“More information on the specifics of the testing goals will be shared with those chosen to participate.”

As to your definition that a massive performance degradation that can be fixed by a patch is not a bug - we can simply agree to disagree.

You are of course, like other forum members, entitled to post as many subjective opinions, deductions, etc as you wish. I do not agree with those you post here because I believe we will have to wait to see how it works out.

P.S. If you do not like a post, you can simply agree to disagree or use the mute function.

Even if it is just for performance you still need a diverse pc build tester base. Anyway, this is just a meaningless beta branch as far as I can see. They could have handpicked the fist few hundred people then opening up more spots in time.
