Do you have English (US) language pack installed in windows?
I came across someone else in a forum saying they had the same CTD with the same faulting path, and the solution was to install the language pack. It solved it for them.
First, ensure you have the US English Language Pack installed for Apps & Websites. If you install MSFS without this pack, the install will hang until a message will display that this pack is required.
I will have a look at this option. When I installed MSFS in 2020 it installed without any problems using the English U.K. settings. All the updates since have been fine. The problem only started about a week ago and at first rebooting the pc fixed the problem, but now nothing works.

I did this as well and also spoke to MS Tech Support in the U.K. he said the PC was running as expected and that Windows were as up to date as was available. As I said this problem started about a week ago with the black screen and the program closing. I tried everything I found on the help pages then uninstalled MSFS. Now it will not reinstall.
Nothing, but I have managed to reinstall Microsoft Store and now at least the flightsim is downloading. Once completed I will see if it will get past the black screen. Fingers crossed
Installation completed this time after reinstalling Store, but app closes at black screen as before. Same errors as before In the application log files. I put them in my earlier post. Not sure where to go from here.
note: following thread is the other user report about these error-message combination ( 0xc0000409 & ucrtbase.dll ) where the reason was seemingly not the missing Lang Pack US , which is normaly these error stands for. ( Lang pack needs to be installed only, not necessary to switch system language )
Got this reply from Zendesk. It might help as I disabled all non MS apps and Flight Sim worked.
To resolve crashes due to ucrtbase.dll, please do the following:
In the Windows Search bar, type “Task Manager”
Select Open
Go to the Start-up tab
**Disable all non-Microsoft applications and services ***
Reboot the computer
Try launching Microsoft Flight Simulator again
Apps that are known to cause Microsoft Flight Simulator to crash:
Nahimic service
Asus Sonic Studio 2
Windows Audio Service
Seagate Toolkit
If the sim stops crashing
To find out which application causes the sim to crash on start-up:
Enable one non-Microsoft application
Reboot the computer
Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator
Enable a second non-Microsoft application
Reboot the computer
Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator
Repeat this process until you find the application that is causing the crash. You can then disable this application or stop the process in the task manager before launching Microsoft Flight Simulator.
If the sim keeps crashing after disabling all services & applications, please do the following:
When launching Microsoft Flight Simulator Type “Flight Simulator” in the Windows search bar and select Run as administrator instead of launching the sim from the Microsoft Store or the tray.
Disable Malwarebytes or any similar security program that may run in the background.
