Black Square Steam Gauge Overhaul Baron 58

I had SPAD, but uninstalled it, I also have Logitech switches, but they are “disabled”, I am now wondering if the uninstall, removed everything it should have.

sorry, since it come to this kind of stuff, I can’t give you further help on this matter, maybe someone with more spad knowledge will be able to give you some tips to find the colrupt , I can suggest you trying with all controllers unplugged , maybe a re-install of the mod after that if the issue persist…

I will do so, thank you for your consideration.

Just an update, I uninstalled everything from my community directory, reinstalled BQ Baron and it working perfectly, now slowly reinstalling rest to determine what caused it

Usually comprehensive look at the Baron from FFH - no Baron pilot for this one but the reviewer is a MEI, so not coming in completely blind.

Had my first failure this morning. Had taken off from KSEA headed north got to FL15 and lost my left engine. Seeing lack of fuel flow but showing no failures but slowly losing from 100% - 90 - 80. Feathered left prop ( didn’t get as much drag as I thought I would) that worked. Landed safely.
Is there anyway to see what the failure was?

Did you turn on the fuel pump to troubleshoot? Can also check mags, play with the mixture. Change fuel tanks potentially as well.

Did all that…reset all and started a new flight.
at about the same place started failing again
will try to reinstall?

Interesting. Double check control/switch bindings?

Is your MP or RPM falling prior to the point it starves the engine?

No it like a fuel flow problem. I don’t think I mentioned that this is the P model. G58P

I wouldn’t necessarily expect it to happen only in one engine, but I’d also check to ensure you’re not running into vapor lock (wait, is that even modeled?). EGTs, ITTs normal, etc?

EGTs, ITTs normal
I can’t make engine 1 backfire.
engine 2 working like a top

remembering all your tweaks you did on this, maybe should you try with vanilla controls ?

I m also sure it s a binding issue, like a “cut off” input sent or something like that if you are sure it s a faillure maybe try to upload a video , maybe will we be able to identify something wrong … did you installed recently new mods ? or avionics update ? I doubt that may be the issue because nobody else have reported similar behaviors, but who knows…

Yes it’s got to be something I’m doing. Setup worked fine for 2 weeks. Watching the data monitor at about 14,00 feet LVAR:BKSQ_BARON_FUELFLOW_1 starts lagging LVAR:BKSQ_BARON_FUELFLOW_2

I’ll try some “vanilla” controls

After trying Vanilla and switching back to SPAD.next seems to be working again.

It remembers the Throttle position, and the Mixture position but not the Pop position.

Are there any updates for the Baron in the works?

It seems that the quickviews are broken in this plane, especially the left one. It doesn‘t have IFR cockpit (f9) and landing view (f11) either.

I’m in same boat. Only I can fly this a/c is selecting running on runway. I’ve tried different fuel knobs, don’t get fuel flow with pumps on, mix on and advance throttle, but it will crank, fire and turn a few rpm’s before stopping. Very upsetting, in fact with both my Black Square products I have starting issues. Don’t get it. Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo and have tried Msfs control and SpadNext. One of those purchases I now regret.

here is my way to start :

full throttle, then fuel pump for 3 sec
next step is to lean the mixture close to the bottom of the “M”,
then throttle to 0 in order to increase it of 2% (two mouse wheel click) it is an instant start for me

(right now video is in low quality, it s due to YT holding for uploading higher quality, tooltip are on the top left corner since SU12, on my end, I just realised that, is it normal ?)

once you get used to it, it s not a problem… took me some time, before as a workaround when I had issues to start it, I was cranking the engine with fuel pump on until it start. Once oil pressure was good, I turned it off

About 5s on the pump for me at full throttle - you can hear the pump tone level off - I don’t lean until after start & rpms stabilise. Throttle to about 15-20%, starter with mouseclick not wheel, and on the rare occasion it doesn’t catch pumping the throttle can work.

Pump high for 5 seconds with throttle fully open, then switch it off- start switch on and PUMP THE THROTTLE - it will always work.
