Black Square Steam Gauge Overhaul - King Air 350i

Anyone working on the AAO scripts for this? Would love to be able to use my switches to control the avionics and batteries.

Thank you, didn’t scroll down enough on that page.

So how we get a notification if there is a update? Do we get a mail from Justflight or do we need to check here in the forum?

I think Guenseli has a new Streamdeck profile for the Kingair (208 as well) which contain A+O scripts if that is any help. Look at flightsim.to

you must received email as product owner, but you can also check the forum

No, if you opt out of their global marketing newsletters you don’t get notification of updates anymore either.

I went through this question with JF on their forum that ended up being a 15 reply thread. Basically they won’t send an email to notify you of an update unless you’re subscribed to their marketing newsletter because they’re afraid that updates may be considered spam. Same thing with the discounts for owners of black square, I almost missed that code.

We can just find out about it a little later reading news and forums etc or sit on the account page hitting F5 lol.

GSI needle won’t work though until Black Square add the code from the PMS integration guide into their product.

You can still see it on the PMS GTN screen though, and I believe the autopilot will follow it.

Anyone know if this king air is working with “ your controls”? I would mind another pilot

Does anyone else find it amusing that clearly a lot of people quite like the concept of an analogue King Air, but at the same time are desperate for their fancy glass GPS units to work?

I quite like to have at least a little GNS530 unit active myself as well, so no judgement. Just thought it was funny. The analogue products clearly strike a chord with many people beyond just their ‘steam gauge-ness’ :+1:

It’s a matter of preference. Analogue is great but i’m also a big fan of the G1000 NXi. Matt and WT have done nothing short of a spectacular job with it.

Who knows, maybe after i step down from my analogue horse, i’ll come running back to the NXi. Life is full of surprises :stuck_out_tongue:

Saw a youtube yesterday of a (real) King Air 350i with a G-1000NXi

touchdown, reverse on ?
nope hmmm lot of wind maybe
the cockpit is very shaky …

hmmmm can’t steer, what s going on ?

... nevermind ...

The beauty of this add on is that you can get the best of both worlds. Since I enjoy both styles of avionics, I think it’s pretty great to have the classic steam gauges with the modern GPS avionics simultaneously. :man_shrugging:

I always feel ashame :sleepy: when I don’t find my destination at first sight and have to turn GPS on, or VFR menu in order to be sure I m not lost, love Radio navigation it s more chalenging but I have to admit, in some part of the world and due to sim issue (only few of all ndb work and some vor are sometime missing also, maybe skyvectore map is also outdated) you have no choice than turning the gps On

The combo of analog gauges coupled with a modern navigator is very common in real-world aviation. Considering the upgrade/purchase price and (equally expensive) installation costs, lots of operators choose to upgrade components piece by piece. For me, the appeal of the BlackSquare King Air isn’t the ability to use radio navigation to fly without a GPS - in the real airplane flying IFR I never do this outside of proficiency training, nor do I enjoy doing it. I like the look of the analog gauges because they match more what I am used to in my franken-panel aircraft (mix of analog instrumentation, modern, GPS, fairly modern autopilot, mix of modern and antique radios, modern transponder) mostly all from different manufacturers. So I like that Black Square has given us the ability to replicate what an older King Air looks like that didn’t come from Textron with glass all over the place, but has been realistically upgraded over time.

Third flight completed and Boy! You can cover some ground with it. Shannon EINN to Glasgow EGPK ( and the weather here was errr… Scottish) and back to Gloucestershire EGBJ all in my alloted trip time of not a lot, before being dragooned to mow the garden. Winds aloft on the outbound leg were helpful. At FL300 I was accelerating faster than a nuns’ first curry and saw a groundspeed of 392 kts. Then, it was back to lower levels to obtain lower headwinds and a scenic trip back down through the midlands. General aviation was never so much fun.

Isn’t that a bit high and fast for a King Air?

Up to FL350 actually and with a tailwind of between 70 and 80 knots it is amazing what you can do.

I’ve been playing with a flight model, that will resemble an official version, soon…

Extraordinarily fun, and to my limited experience, realistic…

Flew the RNAV into Aspen, CO (KASE)… it was a handful, very satisfying…
