The overall ground textures have been improving in the places I have been flying but PG has remained anywhere from just OK (Las Vegas) to terrible (Washington DC region). Today I was very surprised when I flew from Auckland down to Taraunga and found it looking nearly 80% as good as I had remembered:
I wondered if maybe it was due to similarity between season and when the PG appeared to have been collected so I ran an experiment by setting the month to May and checking Washington DC again but it was still really bad so I don’t think the seasonal overlay filter/routine is the main culprit.
I have no idea whats going on but I do remember Seb mentioning some routine they were working on for real time compression/decompression of textures and sometimes it ‘would chose the wrong’ layer or mip level or something. Maybe thats whats going on? Ill try and find the refernce.
