Blurry ground textures in MSFS 2024 - what are your experiences?

I guess you misunderstood his statement, as it had nothing to do with throttling (which is common for most online games to be throttled in one degree or another and is something handled by MS rather than Asobo) and was only about people getting locked out of installing and starting the sim due to a server caching issue.

I don’t recall them addressing throttling in public yet, but I may have missed something.

I have object los and tlod on 200, Pop in is still very noticable.
Dynamic Setting off
Will have to wait Till they fix that. Very immersion Breaking.
Apart from that i am really happy with it Right Now.

Yeah I notice a lot of OLOD pop-in too but 200 minimizes it for now.

I quite like the dynamic setting because it can bump TLOD over 200 at times which reduces pop in.

Can you add your info here please?
I suspect it’s not only the servers but also Telekom that’s causing issues because most reports of problems from Germany I read also mention Telekom

I read that several times but how do you know?

The dynamic setting drop down menu includes ONE option: frame rate target.
Is there official info as to what this setting ACTUALLY does and how it affects TLOD the way you described it?

There is little official info (yet) as to what exactly it does, but they talked of adding an automatic LOD adjuster during development, and in my experience this does just that. I had an external app to do this for me in 2020.

I have a minimum spec CPU, there is no way I could set it to 400 without that setting adjusting it downward as needed.

Really, set your TLOD to max, then compare results with dynamic settings on and off. That is the easiest way to prove what it does.

I did. And I am not sure if there is any difference.
With all due respect but threads like this (while important) turn into a guessing fest after like 20 posts, with people falling into a frenzy of guessing, implying, being certain asoasf…:grimacing:

Now if I were Jörg, I also would be careful issuing ANY statement as it would be IMMEDIATELY turned around and torn apart by us implying things we just would like to hear.

Enabling dynamic setting doesn’t cap my FPS btw., even if I set it to 20…

Tgif!

I completely agree with you. Based on my experience with MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, the blurry texture is nothing but server related and the amount of data that is being released. It will get fixed overtime. We can change all we want in our graphic settings and it won’t make much of a difference. When it’s blurry and the mesh is not detailed (where it should be and is in MSFS 2020), there is nothing we can do on our end to improve it significantly. The data is simply not being provided to us at that time, as it should.

It isn’t a FPS cap, it lowers your LOD below your assigned settings whenever you fail to hit your target FPS until you can. Most often at or near airports around photogrammetry or other high stress locations.

Mouse-hover over the FPS cap setting and read the tooltip.

“Frame rate target used by dynamic settings.”

Again, that is not a FPS lock, but rather the target for changing your settings lower if you fail to hit the assigned FPS.

You ARE supposed to be above it.

Okay, I get you.
Still I would be interested in where I can find an official description of which settings are being influenced by this…
After 30 yrs of flight sim guesswork I don’t want to do any more guessing. That’s all.

I really am agog at how little information we got for so many of these settings.

IME with the outside app for 2020 which this seems to replace, when close to the ground or an airport it would prioritize OLOD and when at altitude it would prioritize TLOD, but it would only adjust either lower when you were not hitting your framerate target.

Otherwise it would raise the values, lowering your framerate towards the target.

So any FPS higher than the target implies you have the overhead to run at high TLOD and still keep FPS above the target.

That is EXACTELY my observation!

Now, I am I the lucky position to run a top tier system so that might have something to do with it. But still, guessing about how things work in the background WITHOUT ACTUALLY KNOWING does nothing besides riling ourselves up to a point at which we all blame Asobo for things they never said or even implied.

Heck, I’ve seen posts on here in which people stated things so intricate I wondered how somebody who’s not on the dev team was able to know about these things.

Yeah, that makes sense and is at least something I can confirm or at least relate to.

I have such a slow CPU and such an OP GPU, LOD is what slows my FPS, so I am very familiar with these kinds of tools in 2020, and if anything Dynamic Settings is smoother implementation.

And now I can run at full ultra and max LOD (dynamic settings lowers them for me as needed), set my FPS target at 20 and use Frame Generation to double that.

With my CPU as the big bottleneck, this is how I can work around it and let my GPU do the heavy lifting.

its funny how the people at MS and Asobo talk a lot in promotional interviews, etc
but suddenly become silent here on forums on issues like these…

Thanks, Xbox Game Pass saved me!

No matter what i change in my settings, it’s not getting any better.

Comparing the same area (Austria) under same flight conditions FS2020 textures are more crisp than FS2024 textures. I can provide screenshots if needed. I don’t speak of color of textures.

Its ridiculous, not only textures looks bad but to make things even more frustrating the frames are poor as well. I am trying hard to find one reason to keep 2024 on my drive.
