Bonanza G36 Turbo Mod Available

I was hoping they’d combine this with the G36 project MOD. I know they talked about this. And to ensure compatibility with future MSFS versions.

Doesn’t look like this is going to happen. Seems there is some disagreement and miscommunication happening between both devs when I read the comments correctly in G36 project thread.

ahh, bummer, thanks for the update.

Dear all, with mod version 0.62, starting from cold and dark, when I want to taxi I am locked in position just as if the parking brakes were still on (but there are not). Anyone experienced a similar phenomenum ? Any workaround ?

Did you try turning them off even though they aren’t on? This is a bug in the sim as a whole which can occur when you hit the escape key for the options. When you come back the brake can be on even though it doesn’t show as being on. It doesn’t happen all the time. Somebody else pointed it out to me and I realized that was the cause of an earlier issue I had. When it happened to me again, I turned the brakes on and off a couple of times until they were off.

Just tonight I had it happen with landing gear… first time ever.

Gear lights off, external visual check showed gear up. Aircraft didn’t want to climb; all possible factors checked out as nominal.

I cycled the landing gear: plane started climbing as normal.

Any chance this will be updated for SU5??? Please!

I don´t think we will ever see this updated ever again, after all what happened.

Robert Young, the original author of this great mod, currently has health issues that have apparently got worse recently. I wish him all the best. Yet, he is still active in the Avsim forums and recently talked about fixing some things inside the mod.

I’m using the last version of this mod, and NXi works with it. The problems when NXi 0.1.0 released (same day as SU5) was that NXi was expecting all aircraft to be in ROL mode when no guidance is used (AP only). The Bonanza is set to LVL, so AP would never guide once GPS (NAV) was selected. This was fixed in 0.2.0 NXi the week after SU5 came out.

Does anyone else find a tendency for the AC to pull left while taxiing? Low RPM, Prop low. Wind on the nose at 15.

I don’t recall having this issue pre 5. Is there a teak to the .config file that might help. It’s not drastic but is constant unless countered with right rudder.

I have recalibrated and reinstalled mod.

Thanks, outstanding mod BTW

If you want to use ‘updated’ version of this mod you have to combine msfs_g36_project and this mod by downloading both then copy engines.cfg from turbo mod to g36 project. If you prefer the flight model of this mod, copy flight_model.cfg as well.

This might be a silly question, but what exactly is the difference besides engines and flight model in the two mods? What does one gain by using Frett’s improvement mod but putting in Young’s turbo cfg files? I guess what I’m asking is what other improvements did Frett make to the G36 that’s not the engines or flight model?

@MarsRising11

I’m on the team that developed the G36 Improvement mod. This is the list of changes we made.

Flight dynamics/performance

  • Adjusted climb and cruise performance to match the Bonanza G36 POH charts.
  • Adjusted flap and gear drag
  • Slightly reduced pitch effect due to elevator deflection + propwash
  • Slightly increased nosewheel steering angle
  • Added drag due to cowl flaps. This causes a 3-4 kts cruise speed loss.
  • Decreased yaw sensitivity by lowering deflection rate as a function of speed
  • Increased overall stability: less ‘twitchy’ feeling

Engine & Fuel system

  • Completely overhauled engine parameters: realistic fuel flow, mixture-EGT interaction, engine performance at all pressure altitudes.
  • Simulation of the electric fuel pump
  • More advanced simulation of engine startup:
    • Cold starts: correct use of the fuel pump, throttle and mixture required depending on engine and ambient temperature
    • Under some conditions, idling the engine too soon after start may cause it to quit.
    • Flooded engine: pumping too much fuel to the engine may cause it to ignite slower or not at all.
    • Flooded engine start procedure (mixture low/cut, throttle halfway) may resolve this.
    • A hot engine running idle with little airflow may quit because the fuel evaporates. (Hotstarts WIP)

Systems

  • Added new working systems and switches:
    • Airco (has a negative effect on engine performance, you will see a few kts lower cruise speed)
    • Airco and ventilator switches are functioning and part of the electrical system
    • Annunciator test
  • Electrical system overhaul:
    • Completely revised electrical buses: all individual systems hooked up to the correct bus
    • Bus tie logic added
    • Correct voltage indications of BUS2 due to reverse current blocking diodes
    • Correct alternator loads
    • Made all indications smooth, rather than instant jumps to a new value
  • Autopilot tweaks
    • Fixed holding the wrong altitude at non-standard atmospheric pressures
    • Max pitch and bank angles adjusted for smoother AP behaviour
    • Added maximum and minimum IAS_ref speeds for FLC mode
    • Adjusted autopilot PIDs
  • Integration with the Working Title G1000 mod, with customized ENGINE, LEAN and SYSTEM pages.
  • Completely redone G1000 annunciators: all annunciators of the real G36 were implemented (except for door open warnings)
  • Corrected fuel gauge scale

Textures & effects

Checklists

  • Interactive checklists for every stage of your flight that follow the POH

Ah, thanks! So, basically, if I want the turbo version, I can just simply swap out the engines.cfg file? Is there a significant difference in the flight model of turbo vs. normally aspirated?

@MarsRising11

We used to have a version that you could use alongside the turbo mod, however we stopped supporting it due to various issues at the time and in keeping everything up to date with sim changes etc. Probably the best thing is to try and see how you go but sadly we can’t support at this time.

Why is there icing effect with this mod even if it’s turned off? I noticed this evening after installing it, I had icing, which is turned off under my settings. Thoughts?

It’s not the mod. Icing visual effects should remain in the sim, even if you turned off the aerodynamic impacts.

Since the B36 lacks things like windshield defrost, the workaround is to find all icing related controls in Options-Controls and assign them to a hardware button. Even if it doesn’t exist on the plane, it will take effect if you use the hardware mapping.

@MarsRising11 If you happen to try that, and it works, please let me know!

Recently updated to V.4.1 few days ago. Great Mod by Robert Young
