Is it just me or did the last update break the bush trip functionality? I have big issues completing them. Like being placed at the previous departing airport for a leg. I suspect this comes after hitting “continue” after ending a flight, and then crashing or aborting, but I’m not sure. MSFS doesn’t sem to register that my plane was at the end of the previous leg upon completion.
Sometimes a complete restart from desktop helped, sometimes it helped starting an early leg and then the latest leg again. But currently it seems like I need to fly both the previous and the current legs at once.
Bush trips are indeed broken. The only hope on finishing each leg of a trip is to go back to main menu which seems to save progress properly - most of the time . Any other option e.g. continue or bush trip menu cause the problems you note. Please could you send a Zendesk ticket if you have not already so this problem moves up the priority list for fixing?
Bush trips are broken for me too after the last couple of updates. Successfully completed Patagonia and Alaska. Now, (Sweden) flights are starting in midair, gps navigation is not working (Bush trip flight plan headings are not working). No line on map. Also with general flying, GPS navigation is no longer working on little planes at least (have only tried Pipistrel and Diamond DA40). Can load a valid flight plan, but it’s not on the Garmin. The Garmin controls don’t operate (CDI, heading, altitude). All were working well prior. A good simulator spoiled, it seems. Hardly worth firing it up now. Support ticket raised.
Be thankful they start in mid-air. I had a problem that after a crash in Patagonia, it placed be right in a dense forest. No chance to get out of there except for completing the previous leg again.
Are the bush trips fixed yet?
I would love to fly one and enjoy some beautyful exotic nature but when the sim is not saving the landings (no logbook opening and no saving anymore after switching alternator and battery off) the flight cannot be completed.
I flew one this week. They work in the sense that it does register the legs are being completed, however the VFR map doesn’t work, there’s no line showing the route and planes with GPS show no flight plan so also have no routing either. It means you have to be very careful about following the directions.
I’d still consider them broken overall. They don’t work like they did pre SU5 and overall they are a lot less enjoyable to fly. Made worse by other issues too (massive stutters due to LOD management, overall performance issues, graphic issues, cloud issues, elevator trim is totally stuffed, etc)
I’m unable to complete the Alaska trip. I’ve completed the final leg twice, the completion popup happens at the last airport. I exit to the bush trip menu and the final leg shows as still needing to fly and still at 91% completion.
This is exactly what is happening with me. After I land this time, I am going to exit to the main menu instead of the bush trip menu and see if anything changes. Will update this post in a little bit with the results.
EDIT: Landing and hitting back to main menu successfully progressed the trip from 91% to 100% completed, so this seems to work for now.
I was having all kinds of problems with bush flights, both the MSFS ones and downloaded ones. I would complete a leg and then later start the second leg and the Navlog and Compass had different headings. I thought my files might be corrupted so I uninstalled MSFS and reinstalled. The first thing I did was fly the Norway bush trip using the autopilot. Completed it, went to Next and then back to Main Menu. Exited MSFS and restarted. Went to the Norway bush for the second leg and the Navlog showed a heading of 224 and the compass showed 359. Is something from previous flights being stored in the cloud similar to your yoke settings?
I also had some kind of issue with bush trips after SU5 : I crashed on a landing. Instead of putting me at the start of the failed leg, I spawned at the location where I crashed. The only solution I found was to start over at the previous leg.
@Twark3498 there’s a workaround for the Continue failure, maybe that works for crashes too.. you don’t finish the flight, so when it’s properly registered, chance is you’re put back at the current leg..
Yeah, I’m having a heck of a time getting my current leg in Patagonia to finish. I’ve landed about 3 times now, and it will not trigger the complete sequence. I’ve tried going back to the main menu but it’s not advancing past my current leg. I even tried flying to the next leg’s landing to see if it would realize and trigger it. Still nothing. I guess my Patagonia trip is stuck for now.
Have you tried CTL-ALT-DELETE? (put your emoji of choice here)
I also have had many problem with the bush trips. I did complete Alaska including that difficult landing at dusk and got my 100% but only after re-flying a few legs. But Finland won’t let go of me. I’ve flown the last leg several times with different exit methods and even started with the second to last leg. But probably won’t go back. I know I’ve finished it so will move on.
On the XCUB I’ve started entering my own flight plans with, at least, the endpoints giving me direction to the endpoint and ETA when heading for the landing. So much is broken but enough works that I’m having fun.
It’s mostly broken. For me, when I start a leg there is no line in the VFR map and no flight plan. A temporary solution for me is to go back to the previous leg and ensure there is VFR line and flight plan. Then, I exit to the main menu and start again the last leg. Most of the time it fixes the flight plan and the VFR map. It’s not an optimal solution but hope works for the moment.
I see a lot of people with my problem. After I crash during a leg, the continue option will put me in the water or in a forrest. When I can get in the air somehow the altimeter does not correspond with de hight the game think I am on, so I crash again. I read that the only solution is to fly the previous leg again, but that will take a lot of time with a chance of crashing again. Very anoying.
Is there realy no solution to this? Are they aware of this? Why don’t they fix this, if a lot of people are complaining? For me it takes all the fun away.
I don’t have an answer to the respawning in the water (other than flying the previous leg), but I think I’ve figured out the way to keep the bush trips smooth and keep all the info all the way through.
My Patagonia trip was stuck at 71% and I couldn’t get the dialogue to pop up to log the the leg. I restarted it from the very beginning. After I land my first leg and the dialogue pops up, the important part is to hit CONTINUE instead of main menu (if you’re not actually continuing). Then you see the new flight plans and POI pop up for the next leg, and the white line in the VFR map that shows the whole route is still there. THEN you can exit to menu from pause/
I have a feeling that the first time you hit the main menu right after dialogue, your whole bush trip is screwed. Some element(s) will disappear. I’ve kept this method on starting any new bush trip, and it works pretty flawlessly. Will report back if that’s not the case.
It looks like it becomes increasingly worse. It’s sort-of okay to start anywhere, but now the nav log is garbled up, too, the waypoints don’t match the descriptions anymotre and one has no idea where to go.
