Is it possible to “buy someone a gift” from within MSFS?
For example, I have friend “X” and I want to make him a gift of aircraft “Y”. I know this is possible to some extent in Steam, (at least with respect to certain games), however I have not seen anything like that in the MSFS marketplace.
Am I missing something?
Update:
I found this:
. . . . that dates back to December of '20 - and the answer seems to be a resounding NO!
Has this changed? Is this on anybodies radar? Is there any way to help place it on someone’s radar?
I had this a while ago, wanted to buy a friend the Vision Jet because I was sick of him seeing me as a Bonanza in-game. The only method I found was to buy an Xbox gift card to the nearest value and tell him to credit it and buy the item from the marketplace himself. Beware - the download process will get you to try and redeem the card to your account, which is not what you want, because once the credits are applied to a Microsoft account, they cannot be moved. You need the activation number which your friend can then use.
However if your friend is using MSFS via Steam, you can buy Steam gift cards which will apply credits to someone’s Steam account which can then be used in the Marketplace. That’s probably as close as you can get currently. They still have to go into Marketplace and buy the thing.
You can buy an Xbox Digital Gift Card and your recipient can choose to use the money to purchase an aircraft of his choice. Otherwise you would have to log into your recipient’s microsoft account and use your payment method and purchase the aircraft for them.
This friend of mine, (he got me back into simming after a long hiatus), and I got him into MSFS - so much so that he, a confirmed Mac user, went out and dropped the coin on a pretty nice system just to play MSFS.
He likes helicopters, so I wanted to throw him an Edgly Optica to mess with.
