When I saw that the latest patch would give you the option to disable streamed addons I hoped that it would include default aircraft. This was always one of my biggest issues with MSFS2020 - please give us the option to have complete control of our hangars and let us remove anything we just do not want and would never fly.
Just edit your Content.xml …you can disable everything if you change from “activated” to “UserDisabled”
I edit mine to get rid of all default vintage and action planes … now im happy that i just have 5 planes left, you can also get rid of all other “arcade” stuff or whatever you dont want to load
like this
<Package name="fs20-asobo-aircraft-pipistrel-livery-xbox-aviators" active="UserDisabled"/>
<Package name="fs24-asobo-aircraft-pitts" active="UserDisabled"/>
<Package name="fs20-asobo-aircraft-pitts-livery-aviators" active="UserDisabled"/>
<Package name="fs20-asobo-aircraft-pitts-livery-xbox-aviators" active="UserDisabled"/>

<Package name="fs24-asobo-aircraft-t6-reno" active="UserDisabled"/>
<Package name="fs20-asobo-aircraft-t6-reno-common" active="Activated"/>
I love you. Thank you.
There have been plenty of requests to favourite, hide, or otherwise filter aircraft in the selection menu.
Would that accomplish what you’re requesting?
You can do this from My library after the latest update went live.
How to enable and disable content in the simulator – Microsoft Flight Simulator Support
Why not just uninstall them? Was definitely an option in 2020 as many of us did it - from what I’ve seen, it should be possible in 2024, though I would need to have another look to confirm.
This doesn’t work for default aircraft.
You can’t uninstall them. Maybe eventually once the marketplace is fully working.
They are not installed anyway, they are streamed … by editing the content.xml , disabled packages werent streamed (“temporary installed”) … in the loading screen its the step “activating packages” … this loads what is active, what is “userdisabled” wont be “activated” … it improves loading times etc … if you dont need something, disable it.
Yes, I’d already requested having a favourites option. That would also work.
This really is much better, thank you so much.
You are welcome… that is what the comunity is ment to be for … and thankfully we are allowed to do so.
I disabled in the meantime all challanges, training, landing challenges etc i just need free-flight and the loading time is super fast (ok, my addon airports have an impact)…
my current remaing aircraft … .so much better without vintage and action planes
Yes, I will start with all the aircraft I don’t want and will no doubt remove a lot more in the coming days.
If disabling content has a significant impact on start up times, then I absolutely think it should be made available in the UI rather than having to edit configs.
Absolutely.
I’m guessing I’ll have to do this all again after every update.
Managing settings etc within Microsoft FlightSimulator always has been more in editing configs than in the ui … if it was MS 98 or MSFS 2024 .. .they are the same: When you want to get them work as you want to: There never was a way around editing configs
You realise that a large proportion of current FS users aren’t able to edit config files, right?
I appreciate that technical tweaking might only be possible by digging under the hood, but it definitely shouldn’t be necessary for things like this.
Tell it to xbox players :).
Make it two persons then.
There are a lot of planes and helicopters in my hangar that I have no interest in. Either because they don’t appeal to me (volocopter) or because they’re too low quality. Having the ability to enable/disable them could also improve loading times.
Thats why i never get used to consoles… to limited.
