Carenado 182RG

I tried it again this morning and it was again misaligned, I deleted the working title gns 530 mod and the rolling cache then reinstalled both after a reboot and it now seems fine.

Interesting, I will go through those steps you tried. Never thought of the Rolling Cache.

I had it at 180 Degs out and had to uninstall and reinstall and that fixed it.

How can I use the analog NAV instrument on the KX 165? The HSI only seems to work if the VOR is tuned on the GNS530. Can I somehow switch off the GNS?

The HSI doesnā€™t have a selectable source and will always give indications from NAV1. NAV2 drives the OBS indicator (to the right of the altimeter). It works the same but with out glide slope indications.

Also, regarding the HSI heading indication errors - turning off gyro drift might solve your issues as well. I too have this problem and even if I calibrate it with the ā€˜Dā€™ key, it slowly drifts over time and requires recalibrating. The real issue is that Carenado donā€™t provide a way to calibrate it and you have to rely on a lesser known keystroke (although itā€™s been ā€˜Dā€™ for decades in MSFS sims, itā€™s rarely used in my experience). So if you donā€™t want to be bothered with it, try switching drift off in the realism settings.

Flew this one twice over the last week, one of my favorites!

I see, thank you.

Is it know which potentiometer drives the glareshield lighting brightness?

Is it the switch below the glareshield above the altimeter? Sorry, I havenā€™t flown the 182RG in a couple months, I canā€™t remember exactly.

It is the left one of the two. I want to bind my hardware potentiometer to it and donā€™t know the pot number.

The right one is pot # 4.

Edit: just found it. For some reason I didnā€™t try it in my tests. Itā€™s # 5.

Oh, sorry! I misunderstood your question. Glad you got it sorted out though!

Any particular issues people are having with this plane in VR? (thinking of buying).

Works great here in VR for me.

What a fun ride, flew the power and prop numbers pulled from RL owner/operators and it was spot on.

Well I finally got around to getting high wing Cessna type #26 or however many I have ā€¦ What an excellent effort from Caranado! Right up there with the Archer II and WACO. Of course after an hour check out it was right to the shop for paint, interior, glass, and state saving and right back up again. Thereā€™s always room to shoehorn another Cessna in the sim.

After launching the FS2020 software and setup for a flight which is carried out to the aircraft shutdown at the destination, I leave the aircraft ā€˜sittingā€™ there for about half hour or more and when I go to proceed on the next flight, I find that the GPS530 and more importantly the A/P doesnt seem to work. I have the Honeycomb Bravo as my main control unit and the A/P doesnt engage with buttons etc.

Thatā€™s strange, Iā€™m sure Iā€™ve left it sitting as just about every flight inevitably has me loading up flight plans, cold start procedures, get ready to start then the wife wants me for something or the dogā€™s jingling for a walkā€¦

Try to uninstall/reinstall it.

I put the improvement project freeware on it which has state saving and itā€™s never had an issue either way.

This flying legend is definitely nessesary  hopefull avaiable on new MSFS 2024

If youā€™ve purchased it for MSFS 2020 then you should have full access to it in MSFS 2024. Maybe Carenado will even update it to MSFS 2024 standards.
