This is a very nice aircraft to fly.

I agree wholeheartedly. Now if someone would just do a mod to put the STOL kit on it, it would be near-perfect.
Great article here about how the Skymaster has fared over the last half century. They mention the STOL mod. And, thereās apparently a rebuilder where you can buy one in ālike newā condition. $600K
These are like the Hemi 'Cuda of light twins. Buy a ābeaterā for $50K. Buy an upgraded modern aircraft for twelve times that much.
Will they take a check?
Seriously, Iāll bet Bagolou could do a STOL mod on it.
Did the Skymaster get an update today like their other three planes? I have the Mooney, WYMF5 and C170) but not the Skymaster yet.
I am sure this will be patched. In the early Carenado Seminole und Carenado Seneca V YouTube videos (from 9 months ago, or 10) there was also no fuel-flow when switching on the fuel pumps and pulling up the throttle, and no change in the amperemeter gauge when the landing lights and deicers and other goodies were switched on, and this was patched
No it didnāt, I think itās so new itās the same update ālevelā as those which got it, cause it does have the engine start smoke which others got with update v1.5.

Is that a Russian or Chinese STOBAR aircraft carrier in San Francisco Bay?!?!
I cannot really tell^^. It is the carrier mod from superspud which places a loooooooot of carriers arround the world. some of them in enemy terrotory.
No the Skymaster has no update yet.
Nice airplane⦠the best Carenado release to date for MSFS, IMHO. The only really glaring error is the climb performance. Real world performance has the Skymaster ranked at the bottom of the list of modern light twins: at sea level it doesnāt even climb @ 1000 fpm.
In the sim, at best rate (roughly 100 KIAS) the model climbs in excess of 1500 fpm, and maintains a very healthy rate of climb even through 7500 feet. Even the turbocharged models donāt climb like that.
There are other āminorā things, mostly having to do with night lighting that should be addressed, but overall the Skymaster is an absolute joy to fly and land. The sound set - while not perfect - is really pretty nice. I enjoy the sounds when landing, although Iām not getting any āchirps.ā All-in-all, well done. And really pretty⦠even the Ramp Rats think so!
Have you issue that saving VFR view camera causes CTD all the time?
Thatās the case with all Carenado aircraft
It really is a nice aircraft! But I canāt get the heading hold mode to work. And the altitude hold mode does also not always work. Does anyone else have these issues as well?
I thought the Seneca was good, but this does beat it out I think. Carenado planes for MFS are improving very rapidly. Kinda vicious spin for something like this but it takes actual effort to get there, so not really a problem.
Carenado airplanes seem to be a little bit overpowered. The Seminole can climb with 2000ft per minute as seen in this video, and surely could also continuous climb with 3000ft/m without loosing speed:
Hm Carenado should tweak the performance a little bit down to make them perfect - but I cannot tell for sure because I have never flown any of these. Maybe the Seminole is a very light and powerful plane? Who knows.
The Cessna Skymaster is a very heavy plane, 2100kg or so, while all other Cessnas have a weight of 1000-1400kg. Maybe that“s why the climb performance is so poor with only 1000ft/m?
Yes Carenado planes are getting more beautyful with every release!
But I hope Carenado also cares about the older releases (like the C182 and the Mooney Ovation) to bring them all to the same level of attention to detail.
I donāt think their appearance was ever in doubt, but their depth of simulation has been.
Itās a very common problem with addon aircraft, you just have to change one line in the cameras.cfg file:
UITitle=āā
to
UITitle=āTT:GAME.PANEL_CAMERA_PILOT_VFRā
