Carenado announced Cessna 337 Skymaster

Reviving this thread after benefiting of the Carenado’s sale.

Anyone aware of a Sound mod, at least lower the engine volume, the gear horn… as this 337 sound volume is way higher than other aircraft and I don’t want to change my setup for a single one.

Exploring all possibilities before (oh no!) investigating in payware: simMarket: CESSNA 337 SKYMASTER HQ SOUNDSET MSFS

How does this aircraft hold up these days with all the complex offerings available now? Still worth a buy?

Given that it supports the new WT 530 as well as the 750s, this aircraft is still near the top of my list. It’s extremely well equipped, looks amazing and flies well.

Great to hear thank you, glad it holds up and supports the WT mod. I’ll pick it up while its on sale.

It IS a complex offering. More quirky and engaging to fly then one would think. You can set both engines under one control set and be happy, or start working them independently to add another layer of depth. It currently has no peer in the hangar. Takes some practice just sorting out where everything is and operating it smoothly. The cockpit is pretty much spot on for an 80’s hodge-podge type layout. Probably Caranado’s best aircraft. Other than the mind blasting volume level of the engines in exterior view…

I used it for my last series and it remains one of my favorite 3rd party AC. The sounds are loud, though, I had to turn it down every flight so people could hear my voice.

I’d like to see them do a Cessna 210 with the same level of quality.

Thinking about picking this up during the Carenado sale. Can anyone tell me if the TDS GTNxi is supported? I’ve only seen mention of the PMS. Thanks.

Love the 337 but am having a problem binding the Prop(s) to my Velocity One quadrant, I can’t get the props out of the feather detent, is ther anyone who could help me get the right bindings for the prop levers?

I’ve used V2 listed on the TDS Forum page for most of last year without a problem. Just disable the PMS version before going in game, then activate the 750 on the Carenado tablet:

The one listed in flightsim.to isn’t the same and doesn’t work, I believe.

Yes, this seems to be a Trademark™ of Carenado…

Back on topic, does anyone else feel the climb is overpowered?

Howdy! Anyone knows if Carenado is planning to fix known issues with Skymaster? Notably, ADF needle animation, inability to turn off KR87 ADF, and other mostly minor things?

As far as I can tell Carenado is like a black box from which announcements are rare and unpredictable. They left the Mooney alone for a long time and suddenly updated it last week. The only active forum where they seem to talk is their Facebook page but I don’t use Facebook so I’m not sure how much they use it to broadcast and how much they use it to talk back and forth. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help, I mostly responded because we have the same avatar.

Don’t know about cutting through prop wash but there was an issue with a nasty annoying phasing sound very noticeable cycling between internal and external view.

And also the wonky mixture leaning, broken after their 1st update. This worked well in the initial release.

What about the toe brakes animation? Not a huge deal, but should not be too hard to fix either…

You think it would be too much to also ask for proper cabin lighting instead of the 'spotlight ’ and pitch black they cobbled together? What about the the absence of exhaust heat blur effects? Couldn’t bother with that one either? Nearly all default planes have this. Don’t even get me started on the aircraft sporting weather radar but no deicing capability. Such an otherwise lovey aircraft plagued by so many silly goofs.

While I agree that Cessna 337 could have de-ice added (and there is a mod for this, but I don’t like using it without actual buttons in the cockpit), weather radar issue is on Asobo, right? And having the weather radar working would be even more useful/critical for Skymaster without de-icing for better avoidance.

Anyone notice unpretty prop animation on lower pitch settings? Don’t know if this is a new thing or not.

I’ve not heard a 337 IRL for many years, but this engine sound from outside sounds like my old two stroke Radio control planes. Bit frenetic and whiny. Happy to be corrected, though playing at night I wish the sound diff from inside to out wasn’t so huge

Frankly, prop animation is my least concern. We still don’t know if Skymaster was ever updated for the new prop physics. And I share some concerns about it being grossly overpowered. I could climb at over 2000fpm (vertical speed indicator doesn’t move farther than that) while maintaining over 140 knots. It doesn’t feel right based on what I’ve read about this aircraft

The external sounds are what out me off buying the horrible prop phasing sound needs fixing.
