I’m almost hesitant to ask, but…xbox?
Well, yes, you can; but you have to control the drone yourself. The cinematics in ChasePlane for P3D (and so I assume MSFS) do the work for you. As in, camera movement is automated.
I guess that’s up to //42 to explain, but for my money it’s the automation of camera movement, placement and translation that’s the primary benefit. You can do a fly-by with the drone if you’re good at controlling it, but what people seem to be wanting is what FSX had - a fly-by view that just works automatically when you select the view. You can move the drone over to the end of the runway and watch traffic landing and departing, but you have to move it there yourself. You can pop out the drone in flight and go inspect scenery below you in detail, but you have to keep moving the drone to compensate for the movement of your aircraft.
All of these should be able to be solved with a replacement camera system.
Well… If you have a degree in rocket science…
Lots of things can be done lots of ways, can you mimic one of these shots holding an Xbox controller and selecting drone, then setting speeds?
Sure.
Or you could throw your controller out the window and press 1 single button.
My excitement over this is heavily driven by the recent XP12 update which features a physics based camera system. I’m not expecting identical behavior, but man I miss this type of addon so much. Flying feels so much more lively with some phyics-based camera movement.
We’ve had a physics based camera system for almost 10 years now, so we’re definitely not the new kids on the block here. ChasePlane for MSFS is no different, the physics are wonderful.
Appreciate the speculation, but ChasePlane’s feature set will speak for itself when we reveal more in the coming days.
Day one purchase how soon ?
Hi. ChasePlane should be published today, January 30. At what time will it happen?
We appreciate that! It’s entering group testing and getting refinement around rough edges, won’t be long now. Definitely not another 4 years!
No software is perfect hint hint ![]()
Then I can go to sleep! See you in the next four years! :)))
More news coming out;
Xbox tho?
Xbox fam, you know we’ve always had your back. We’ve brought you countless add-ons designed to bring the best PC experiences to the console. However, this time, it just isn’t possible. On the technical side, ChasePlane™ goes beyond what can be offered on Xbox. ChasePlane is PC only.
OK I’m ready; tell me what else ChasePlane can do!

- Gimbal option for views to keep horizon level
- Physics-based camera motion that respects the flight model, never alters it.
- Multiple physics types (Human, Mounted, Orbit, Chase)
- Adjustable mouse look speed and momentum
- Single control assignment set for all camera movements instead of per-mode control sets
- Intuitive Interface focused on views, not settings
- Use “Mouse Look” while in Drone Mode
- Cloud and local backups
- Sim-pit pilots can align views perfectly with their IRL setup.
- No spreadsheet outlining aircraft compatibility.
- Works in VR
- Works with TrackIR
- All this and more, built as an in-sim panel with the elegance and usability you expect from //42
ChasePlane is built for simmers who want more control, flexibility, and a visually beautiful sim experience.
Will this be cloud/server saved like Flow’s cfgs or saved locally?
Will it be compatible with Tobii eye Tracker 5 previous versions I used on P3D were TrackIR compatible
The ChasePlane list of features in the post above yours says: * Cloud and local backups
Not sure that is what you are referring to but wanted to point that out. Exciting times!
I’m guessing it won’t be, only based on the following;
- Works in VR
- Works with TrackIR
They called out VR and TrackIR, so given they left Tobii off leads me to believe it won’t be but it could have just been an oversight.
