Hello to all:
I always have this “Console” blank screen open with my MSFS2020 simulator.
What is its purpose and is there a way to avoid it opening?
Thank you for any assistance.
Regards,
Roberto
I’ve never seen that before.
How are you launching MSFS? Are you using any non-standard methods to launch it?
Check to see if you have developer mode ON: Options -> General -> Developers -> turn this to off.
Hello hobanagerik and Spartuz9022:
Thank you very much for your quick responses.
I don’t do anything special to start the simulator. I have placed the icon on the taskbar and just click it to start.
Just to try, I have started as an Administrator, and the “Console” blank page also shows up.
It is always minimized, but I see it if I hover the mouse over the MSFS2020. If I try to close it, the simulator also closes.
The Developer Mode, is off in my simulator.
Thanks again.
Roberto
I’ve used a couple of different ways of launching it.
The default method, and icon.
A script, adding the “'FastLaunch” switch
The program that comes with the SDK, that does the same as option 2 above.
None of these three have given me a console window. Very odd!
Hi hobanaerik:
You are absolutely right. It is very odd.
I also checked with friends and relatives that have MSFS2020, and nobody has this issue either.
Hopefully, somebody else will show up with a comment and solution.
Regards!
Roberto
Have you reported to Zendesk?
Hello StubbiestCargo5!
Not yet.
Many times I got timely and good advice here, but, they are the next step.
Thanks!
Roberto
Roberto,
It does look like it’s coming from MSFS Dev mode.
Do you have any develop programs on your PC?
If you’ve never used the SDK/Dev in MSFS, check Windows 10 startup programs/apps/services that may be loading for some type of script editing (javascript). MSFS uses JS & CSS menus. And I agree above, report that to zendesk.
Hello to all:
I really appreciate the posts and your comments!
Hester40MT, I am a “very simple” user, so, there aren’t too many sophisticated programs on my PC.
This screen, showed up the very first day. I had to uninstall/reinstall the sim two or three times and each time, the “Console” screen is there. It doesn’t seem to affect the operation of the sim, or at least, nothing that I notice.
Dev Mode is always OFF. I don’t have other developer programs on the PC.
I haven’t seen anything “obvious” (ie JavaScript, etc.) in the StartUp menu.
I bought one Carenado airplane and an ORBX airport, but the screen was there before these were installed.
I have P3Dv5 still installed on another drive. MSFS2020 runs on its own drive.
I have several GoFlight modules, that are run by Go Flight Interface Tool in both simulators, but I have to turn that program ON, after I started the sims, and the “Console” screen appears “by itself” with the start of MSFS2020, before any other program is opened.
It appears to definitely be a MSFS2020 issue.
I submitted a ticket with Zendesk and we will wait to see if they reply.
I will certainly post here, if a solution is found.
Thanks again to everybody!
Regards,
Roberto
Hi Roberto,
Have you found out why that console window keeps coming up?
Just checking in!
Hi!
What a nice surprise to see your note.
Unfortunately, no, I have received no message with regards to my enquires on Zendesk.
That blank page still shows up, every time I start the sim. I just minimize it and it does not seem to affect the sim (at least I hope not) in any visible way.
I know the developers are busy with much bigger issues, so I will just wait patiently.
Unless that console starts to bother, Then I’d make a big “fuss”
Keep well!
Regards,
Roberto
