I’m on FS2020 and have none of those issues. Starts consistently from following the method posted on COWS Discord: prime 3-5 seconds, throttle 1 inch and mixture cutoff. Crank until it catches, then mixture full rich and magnetos to both. AP also has worked flawlessly for me so far.
I’ve experienced two glitches so far: the fuel gauge will sort of freeze for a while, showing no change despite the totalizer on the g1000 reporting gallons being used. After 5-10 minutes it started working again but I couldn’t fully trust the readings. Perhaps this is realistic, and the totalizer is a useful tool. Also, I had a crash to desktop once that was related to switching pages on the g1000, on DX12.
I love the plane so far. Landing will take some practice because it LOVES to float forever.
Thank you! I worked on it a bit today and was finally able to restart it on the runway. Not exactly sure what combo did the trick, but got it going and it stayed running.
Having a lot of fun with this.
I’m finding the aircraft drifts to the left a little during flight, presumably torque from the engine, has anybody found a way to enable ‘aileron trim’ to prevent this?
I have had tons of fun with the DA40NG mod from mrtommymxr and therefore I bought the COWS DA40XLS. I really like it BUT from my point of view it`s a little bit to floaty on approach.
Typical for single engine props is they will usually have rudder trim, or ground adjustable trim tabs. The 40 doesn’t have rudder trim. I’m not sure if it has an adjustable tab in the real thing. At certain speeds the ball will be centered and at other times it will need some pedal input to keep the “ball” centered.
I just bought the DA40 and did a few circuits at my home base ! As a 2006 DA40 XLS flyer, I am SHOCKED !!! This is THE s**** ! Congratulations to the COWS Team ! By far the best study level module I have seen (and I own some of the Black Squares’) !
SUPERB plane, fairly priced and properly produced with a clear attention to detail and obvious passion and pride in the work that the developers have done. Why can’t more companies do this? Well done COWS, there’s tons of companies that have disappointed me gravely with regard to MSFS 2024, I’m very happy to say that you are not one of them. I hope you sell an absolute ton of these, it’s one of the very best things in MSFS 2024.
This is probably not exclusive to the DA40 but lately I’ve been having some problems with the G1000. The screens tend to flicker and I can’t see airspaces on the MFD map anymore even though I have it selected in the options menu.
Experienced the same flickering issue a few days ago but after restart I did not see it again.
For the G1000/GNSXXX from 3rd Party Developers not showing airspaces and airports. I experienced the same on the COWS G1000 and on the Carenado’s PA44 GNS 530. I think I found a SOLUTION. While testing, I loaded up Asobo’s aircraft with G1000/GNS530 to compare (Asobo’s devices work well (shocker))… Since loading those, COWS and Carenado’s GPSs now show the airspaces and airports. It also worked after restarting the Sim.
The flickering was solved using ebouchard566’s solution. The VFR and IFR charts are bugged since MSFS 2024 was released I’m afraid. I don’t think there is a solution for that.
Unfortunately I don’t want to fly this aircraft anymore. The random flickering of the G1000 and the airspaces disappearing from the map is just too annoying.
