Ok. A little better news. If you copy the default, save it, then try to “Null” it out and then save it with no assignments. It will crash. But if you Copy the default, save it, then you can edit it successfully (so far). I was even able to create a “null” profile by Clearing the copy, and adding a single button. This prevents my joystick and my Yoke profiles from conflicting, so I’m making progress.
I imagine I’ll have my two controllers remapped around the same time they fix the issue internally (lol). Oh well, it was an excuse to call for Pizza. Didn’t want to cook tonight anyway.
Quick Fix? LOL You are funny… Its people like these guys above this post that are going to be the hero’s. Because in 2 weeks this is all going to happen again. Never have I ever (until now) paid 150 bucks for a program that breaks every two weeks.
You guys deserve recognition for your efforts. You are “working” for free for the good of the community as a whole. I would like to sound a note of appreciation.
I would like to try this. Can anyone tell me where the custom profiles are stored on a Steam install?
I don’t mind having to redo my controller profiles, I just need to delete all the assignments as I use FSUIPC to configure my controllers. But I can’t locate the files.
I don’t think anyone has posted this yet, but just in case. MSFS is aware of the crash to desktop issues, and working on a resolution. They expect to have more information to share by tomorrow morning (PDT) at the latest
For those of you experiencing bugs, please continue to send bug reports to Zendesk, include any relevant logs from the Windows Event Viewer and any other information you think may be useful.
Removing all the input files allows it to at least load, but for some reason Steam keeps replacing my files, even with the cloud sync turned off. I turn it off and run the sim, and Steam enables it automatically for me. WTF? Anyone else seeing that?
Thanks, that is helpful to know. I’ll stop now trying to fix it and wait until they figure it out. I hope that it is a relatively simple fix. It is obviously usb related, but is highly variable, as the peripheral that causes my problem works fine for others (and one of mine that works doesn’t work for others).

Thank you very much. Moving the input profiles out of the way worked like a charm. While MFS doesn’t recognize any of my controllers at this point, I don’t care because I use FSUIPC to configure all my inputs anyway, and that still works fine.
Good news on this side. I restarted my pc after installing the CH Manager and driver and everything work in the sim. My old CH yoke profile work didn’t have to change a thing. I did a quick test flight in the TBM and was very impressed with the sensitivity. It flys much better the performance was amazing. I am going to continue testing tomorrow and will report back if any issue is found. So far so good .
I finally fixed mine too. If you try to rebuild and save a “null” profile it will CTD as well. So my (null) profiles have one button assigned. I do this so my Yoke and Joystick don’t conflict (the CH Yoke can have a bit of flutter).
I think it’s time to get the FSUIPC beta and dust that off and go that route. This remapping of profiles is getting to be a chore, as it’s not the first time they have “messed” them up. Although this is the first time they caused a CTD.
Now it’s time to learn FSUIPC…I’m lost on that, and the beta is supposed to load a manual (grin)
Same here. Have everything going through Spad.Next, and only one that was not assigned was the rudder, so assigned Brakes in FS, and Rudder in Spad.Next
I have 150+ hours in sim and never once had a CTD. Just flew two more hours tonight, enjoying the new eye candy without problem, then a CTD mid flight without any warning or error msg. Restarted and only made it 15 mins flying before another CTD with an error code this time.. didn’t save the code. Restarted and have been flying for 45mins trying to CTD so I can get the error code and so far no luck lol. I’m also on Steam edition
