Does safe mode disable your controller profiles? If not that won’t help.
I’m not sure however I am now back to CTD’s almost every time I try to fly. This sucks.
Can you post a link to this update?
I don’t have the link, but I finally found the EXE file that runs the updater.
If any one wants it, shoot me a message and I will see if I can forward the file as I cannot upload a file with an EXE extension here ( obvious reasons why ! )
About 18 months ago I was getting CTD’s with about 50% of my saved flights which where then loaded. I stopped using the save/load function and have had no problems since then until the last update.
I haven’t had many but it’s frustrating when it does happen. I tried repeating the flights with the same conditions and setup but The CTD’s haven’t been repeatable…a right pain.
I’m still having problems…every now and then it doesn’t load and I have to repair the program to get it to work.
When I finally get it working every second flight it crashes on the loading screen no matter what.
Never had a problem until the Iberia update and last sim update.
Also the game takes way to long to load on first boot considering it doesn’t even know where I want to fly yet. What exactly is it loading in for it to take ages???
It does take a long time to start up. I just keep mine minimized when I am not flying.
I dont buy this argument sorry. Maybe you meant MSFS is sensitive to inferior components or people not knowing how to overclock and bench to make sure their system is stable ?
So it has been 8 days since my last CTD and it happened again tonight. After about an hour and a half flight 3 miles from the runway the sound stuttered, the sim stopped and then crashed. The same way it always happens. I still only have the two FlyingIron warbirds in my community folder. I was flying the XCub a MSFS default plane, but it was the one with the nose wheel. I was not in safe mode. I have my CPU overclocked using the AUTO setting in my BIOS. The highest it gets is 4.3MHz while flying.
Check your RAM and your VRAM.
I used to have a few CTDs, with time, I got frequent CTDs, so I checked my RAM and it was faulty, I bought new RAM sticks and since then no more CTDs.
I checked my memory using Windows Memory Diagnostic. It said my memory 32GB is good. I pretty much fly for a while, at least an hour, every night. We’ll see how long I can go before a CTD. They seem to be pretty random. I haven’t checked the video memory yet. Not sure how to do it.
Maybe this applies to some of you. But I usally forget to update FSUIPC. Facing a CTD is a friendly reminder to me to update that piece of software as well.
That advice should apply to any addon software, especially community mods. I wonder how many angry CTD posts could be attributed to out of date mods. It would interesting to correlate the date these posts are made, and whether they are shortly after a new sim update has been released. I feel it would be revealing.
I recommend memtest86 to test RAM, memtestG80 to test Nvidia VRAM and memtestCL for Radeon.
234GB addons - not a single crash in at least 6 weeks. Windows 11. Using “Windsailor” to update my files.
I had a temperature alarm and system shut down due to high temps. A new watercooler to replace the old and now it runs 30C cooler and no more issues of overheating. If there’s no room for a giant air cooler, then a water cooler almost always fits.
I bought one of these emermax aquafusions which reportedly cool better than even more expensive brands. Enermax fixed their issue of corroding at the CPU interface plate. 55C instead of 80C on system boot, and 65C instead of 95C in MSFS, that is a lot of extra cooling.
Water coolers work better and the package even with hoses and radiator are smaller in size, but they do not last forever like most air fans do. Water cooler last about 4 to 5 years. When the temps start rising after a few years, you need a new cooler which you install yourself.
Yeah.. if only that water cooling system would fit into my laptop
the BIOS says 71 degrees and I won’t change that setting, nor fiddle around with the hardware.. need this PC for other work as well.. I’m looking out for MSI now (and 3070Ti) especially for MSFS
My CTDs are not gone. I am getting a CTD almost every night again. I just lost an hour and a half flight time flying the Spitfire toward New York City. I can’t fly in safety mode because my favorite airplanes are not available in safety mode. I don’t know if they are causing the CTDs but if they are that’s really bad. The only three airplanes I have in my community folder are the FlyingIron Spitfire and P-38 and the Milviz Corsair. Is anyone else flying any of these aircraft having a problem with CTDs?
So, I just went to restart the sim after the CTD and got a notice that there is a mandatory update I need to install. This is the second time that I have gotten a CTD and tried to restart the sim and got this message. So it seems that some CTDs are the result of mandatory updates. The sim is not waiting until I land and shut down the sim, it just kills my flight and makes me update before continuing to fly. I don’t like that.
