DA62 manual right engine start not possible anymore

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

DA62 following manual checklist doesn’t start right engine since last beta-update. Both start engine buttons only start the left engine now. Right engine can only be started via automated quick-start-up.

Personal note: As a regular DA62 pilot, I know the system and checklists inside out. Since the last beta patch ( Release Notes - SU6 Beta 1.8.11.0 - August 5, 2026 ) and the fix “Fixed alternators and battery flickering and using a starter”, the right engine isn’t starting manually anymore. It seems like it’s connected to the left engine somehow. When starting at night, you can see the light flickering. Alternators are both on and ECU on auto.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time, it was only in beta, but it’s in SU6 now.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Select any airport and a parking spot for cold start

  2. Follow the manual startup routine (e.g. checklist)

  3. Try to start the right engine, G1000 and lights will flicker and the left engine is starting instead (only if not running already)

A second report has been merged here, highlighting how G1000 is also resetting, please see: DA62 manual right engine start not possible anymore - #7 by Zadma

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:

Playstation 5 (beta & SU6)

MEDIA

Adding a screenshot of the start button isn’t adding a lot of value. Video can’t be uploaded due to size constraints, but it’s really easy to reproduce.

I’ve uploaded a video on reddit instead: https://www.reddit.com/r/MSFlightSimulatorPS5/comments/1vm909y/da62_manual_right_engine_start_not_possible/

Moved from BR category as this occurs in the beta release.

This is exactly my issue and I’m on pc.

It happened in the beta first, but it’s part of the SU6 release now and affecting all players.

Moved to Bug Reporting Hub > Aircraft & Systems since issue also happens in the live version.

I am also experiencing exact same issue in live SU6 version. Right engine starter starts left engine if you shutoff left engine. Right engine starter doesn’t even turn right engine over. Right engine starter seems to be linked to left engine start since SU6.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: Attempting to start up either engine using the proper procedures results in the avionics cycling power and the engines not starting upon pressing the “START RIGHT/LEFT” button.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Spawn cold & dark in any variant/livery of the Diamond DA62

  2. ELECT MASTER > ON

  3. RIGHT ENGINE MASTER > ON

  4. RIGHT ENGINE START RIGHT > [PUSH]

  5. Observe G1000 screens briefly power off and boot back up and right engine does not start

  6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with the left engine

In continuing to troubleshoot this issue I’ve noticed some really bizarre variation in how the aircraft is broken during startup. I’ve had some restarts of the flight where the right engine start button will start the left engine, but so will the left engine start button, so there’s no way to fire up the right engine. Others where neither start button does anything but recycle the avionics (as described in the original report).

Seems like a lot is wrong with this one after Sim Update 6 unfortunately.

It sounds like a corrupt file. Perhaps try deleting the DA62 files in the sim (not sure if you can uninstall in the Content manager) then restart which should force a re-download of the file.

I’ll give it a go, but I’m not the only one experiencing these issues. Have you tried to replicate but couldn’t?

I can replicate as described in the bug report.

Tested on a totally separate device, same issue - so I don’t think it’s a local corruption issue.

@ShiLong83 : if you are also experiencing the same issue with the G1000 as reported by @Zadma DA62 manual right engine start not possible anymore - #7 by Zadma, you may want to add this additional info since it seems to be part of the same startup issue for this aircraft.

I sign up on this forum just ti reply to this post. I’m having the exact same issue on PS5, playing with a PSVR2.

Welcome aboard!

Reinstall didn’t solve anything. Still same behaviour, right engine button starts only left engine. G1000 still flickering, like the result of a power surge.

Updated description and also linked the additional G1000 details.

I was an early responder to this thread having just shutdown th sim after a successful DA62 flight.

This morning on trying to continue my tour I’ve run into exactly the same problem. As the DA62 is streamed I cannot change anything with installed files and Content Manager similarly won’t let me do anything.

Anyone come up with a solution yet?

Engine quick start CTRL + E as a workaround is the only thing I’ve seen suggested.

CTRL-E doesn’t work for me.

I’m on PS5 and it’s R1 + down arrow (dpad) for me, but the feature is called “Auto Start Engine”. It’s a work around, so I do the cold start as far as possible and my last step is to trigger the auto start to get the right one rolling. But I hate this key combo…
