DC Designs AV-8B Harrier II Discussion thread

Where? Here in the forums?

EDIT: Blog was just released. Unfortunately, true. No Update. :sob:

Waiting for Thursdays is like a second Christmas. Never know what you’re gonna get and sometimes, you’re disappointed.

@CodenameJack447 I’m putting together some authentic moving carriers. The main inspiration was the arrival of the Harrier which is the most interesting ship-based aircraft.

However on testing it it’s the one and only aircraft so far that won’t recognise a moving platform. The platform continues moving underneath it.

The V22 also has its moments, but it eventually settles down so I presume it’s something to do with trick coding in that and this.

Is there something super obvious that could be tweaked in a future update?

Since the whole moving platform thing is a giant kludge that wasn’t meant for release outside the Top Gun landing challenge, I’ll guess delving into it would be far more trouble than it’s worth until/ unless it becomes official.

You are right nothing at all this week :pensive:

Well, yeah, I was talking about in the sim. Unless you have some CFD goggles for the real world that you can see that stuff through?

So to go back to the original point, it’s even less like the in-sim helicopters in practice I assume!

Yeah, apparently there is an issue with SU11 and they’ve suspended all uploads by developers for the time being until they fixed the problem. Hopefully the will have fixed it soon.

LOL, yes. It’s called the water switch. Turn that sucker on and you’ll have no problem seeing where the air goes!:joy:

Never bought DC before, bought the Harrier, don’t get me wrong I like it but the absence of controls bindings and LVars etc from the manual is poor. I want to fly, not spend time trawling through YT and forums to find information

Totally agree about manuals providing LVArs and the time it takes to try to guess which ones control what in the products which don’t. It shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to copy and paste a list of the LVars into a manual. Those that provide this show an understanding of and respect for their customer base. Unfortunately they are few. Would love for this to become standard practice.

As an example, HPG are fantastic with their LVar and control mapping support, best in the business that I have found (actually the H145 is a fantastic product in almost every respect, but I digress).

I honestly don’t know why we bother continually posting a discord link for everyone who needs support

If only there was a Bot that could do that for you huh? Can you put up non expiry links on top of the page?

@TONYDARKZERO try their discord if you need to

Now we can look forward to the next thursday

Drinking a cup of coffee ! :+1:

Some people just don’t like Discord. I personally find it to be a jumbled mess compared to a traditional forum. I use it only when I am forced to.

I understand you perfectly, I loved giving support here but we were expressly prohibited from doing so. Not always everything is as we want.

I get it, direct support here isn’t allowed (not something I agree with but it is what it is). What I don’t understand is the general migration of product support over to the Discord platform. There must be something about it that devs like but I fail to see it. I guess I am just showing my age!

You can live stream games with that, so you can show first hand to the devs what the problem is.

I resisted Discord a looooong time vehemently, but after seeing more and more support going that way and having problems with the Kodiak throtte recently, I finally buckled. I use the browser version instead of the app, though. Not sure if you can live stream with that.

Discord IS a jumbled mess if you just scroll through individual channels. However, whomever setup the DC Discord did an excellent job. There are dedicated channels for each airplane product, plus channels for general chat and discussion. Between the focused channels and pinned posts with important information, it’s one of the best organized and useful servers you are going to find.

Amen to that !!

They are super responsive over on Discord server, but think we get more users on this. shame MS can’t let 3rd parties work with MS customers on stuff, especially when their planes are on marketplace as well, along with the fact, the problems might be on MS Asobo side that are effecting all planes, but found here.
