SU12 spotlight did not move my Decathlon achievement forward

New update/spotlight did not give progress for achievement. Played it on xbox and windows store version.

Thanks for confirming, forgot to say mine was the Steam version (so not working across the board). Wild it worked in beta, must have had some regression before release…so sad This is my last achievement and I’m dying to complete it!
EDIT: Too bad this issue is closed as fixed, considering multiple people said it’s still not progressing after SU12

For whatever it’s worth, the SU12 landing challenge DID increase my achievement progress. I have the game on Steam on Windows. And I DIDN’T download that free spotlight event pack yet, if that makes any difference.
I have 9/10 challenges now after more than two years lol. I’m really holding my breath hard for SU13. Maybe I’ll finally get to complete it.

Brief description of the issue:
There was previously a thread open about how the Decathlon achievement is unobtainable because there are almost never new “weekly” events. Two days ago, this thread was closed by @Bugheadz who said that the issue was fixed in SU 12. This is NOT TRUE. The release notes for SU12 mention neither Decathlon nor achievements, except to say that the new events pack does NOT count toward achievments, which does NOT fix the problem. Please reopen this issue until a real solution is available. It seems to me like the devs are really trying hard to ignore this problem and brush it under the rug. We’ve been bringing this up for years and have gotten no communication at all about it.
Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:
Be a new player and try to get the decathlon achiement. It will take far more than 10 weeks. I’ve been playing for almost 3 years and I’m at 9/10

I was looking forward to the “weekly” events. I’ve had the game for a few weeks now and so far I’ve only seen one.
I wish they would get on this and start changing things up a bit in that regard. I’m tired of seeing the same “weekly” event. If they can’t manage weekly, maybe they should officially make it a monthly thing, so there’s less frustration.
Sim Update 12 was supposed to fix this, but it’s been a couple of weeks now, and still no “weekly” events. they should either get someone working on this, or put the old ones on a recurring weekly schedule so we can at least have another chance to get those.
And on a related note, shouldn’t we have something different than the Top Gun activities? The movie has been out for nearly a year (besides, I thought this was supposed to be a civilian flight sim). I realize the Pentagon and Darth Vader need all the help they can get recruiting for the Empire, but this is ridiculous.

By the way, the issue is way off from being fixed.
There was another chance to start another challenge, together with the world update.
Guess what? We still have the first flight challenge..

There’s still no new weekly challenges in the past month. Even recycling the existing challenges is better than current situation.

We’re just three years into the sim, and already Microsoft/Asobo have dropped the ball on this issue. I looked into it and apparently the last time we had a weekly challenge was nearly TWO YEARS ago!
If this sort of thing is what counts as Microsoft and Asobo’s “commitment to support the sim for ten years”, I have to believe we’re in for a rocky road ahead. I mean, if they couldn’t even honor their word on this issue after just a year, and haven’t even acknowledged that this is a problem, what are things going to be like as the sim gets older?
If they’re not going to honor their commitment, how difficult could it possibly be to at least recycle the old challenges so we can get the achievement?

They (devs) really need to look into this and begin adding more events (at least 1 per month) or have a rotation of events - perhaps make 10 of the challenges already in the game be classed as ‘Spotlight Events’
Xbox had a games showcase today where a new MSFS was announced (MSFS 2024). This game has been out on Xbox since July 2021 and we haven’t yet had enough ‘weekly’ events to be able to unlock an achievement requiring players to complete 10 of them (we should be at ~100 events by now if they had been weekly)
This new MSFS makes me worried that they won’t get enough events in by the time the new one launches and this game will become less of a priority (and this achievement issue doesn’t seem to be very high on the priority list as it is)
For clarification, the previous weekly/spotlight events since launching on Xbox have been the following:
Miramar - November 2021
Reno Stead - March 2022
Kingston Nevada - April 2022
Entebbe, Uganda - July 2022
First Flight Airport - March 2023
Some of these haven’t counted progress for each person either, for instance - i have completed all 5 events above but i am only 40% towards Decathlon achievement as the ‘Reno Stead’ challenge did not give me any achievement progress (in-game profile stat shows 5 events completed but achievement tracker only on 40%)
Any way this can be flagged to the correct person/team as i’m not confident that this thread will be seen by the relevant people

when do we get new challenges the achievement is not doable if there is no new challenge , it says weekly but there are no new ones , its annoying , pls patch it or give us more events .

One question ? Does the new landing challenge in Dubai with the Red Bull landing on the helipad count for this achievement ? Is it a spotlight event ? Does anybody know ?

You did successfully land on the heliport ? I suppose it ist not a spotlight event, because first flight airport is still there.
Yes, landed there, only 40cm from center. But so far the achievement progress did not increase.
