Discussion + Poll: RENO

What the update was today?

Thanks for your reply. But why have you marked the video as “unsuited for certain ages”? It’s just a flightsim video right, or are you swearing a lot? I’m 40 by the way.

Well anyway, just tried to mess about with the prop control a bit and indeed I chopped about 3 secs off my last record in the Unlimited class. If you have more tips (also for the other classes), keep them coming!

depth perception in VR sure can help with the pylons and it’s easier to see the other racers around you
the drawback is performance and that you mostly need to rely on the actual cockpit instruments, which are hard to read sometimes
overall it’s a whole new level of simming experience and you probably won’t ever want to go back to flat screen

that’s how it seems to be working, the cap must be 2500 and the closer you get to that, the higher ranked players you must race

i never know, and swear like a sailor, not politically correct and hate censorship … and I don’t have to worried about lawyers … lol

Litterally you see me fly in a circle for a qual run and 6 laps of turning left at various altitudes below two hundred fifty feet above the hard deck and speeds of up to 195 knots, which is better than the 189 knts I max’ed out at before knowing about the adjustability of pitch … watched an old 50’s t-6 training film … and the rest … well that is more ground school and circuit time …

It is called an Oval in 3D . Fastest time wins.

theoretically - yes, in current reality - no.

there are a lot of strong players in the game who can get your points without the risk of losing theirs, but only a few players from whom you can take

if the calculation will be based on the best lap times, it will be a fairer system

it’s very risky yet kind of unfair like you said, not being rewarded at all for the efforts but penalized greatly if something goes wrong and franky, that can happen any time, races with lots of players usually turn into a destruction derby and if you get rammed into multiple times there’s no skill in the world that will win you that race
but it’s possible, it seems that you’ll still gain points racing 2200+ players:

this is a good example though, the toughest opponent was the lowest ranked one in this case lol

currently rank not necessarily represents skill, rather the invested time, it being based on best time would be more accurate, although i kinda see why they aren’t doing that, you win one race with the best time ever and then you’re on top of the list, and can be done with all the racing
climbing the ladder is part of the fun, but there needs to be a matchmaking system that only put splayers in races where they actually can gain points

Hey! It’s me there in last position!!! Actually I finished first (by a nose, look at the race times), but had cut two pylons. What a race that was! Thanks for the compliment @Jimijoke2100 !

BTW: Sorry for the crash… I think it was in the beginning of that exact race.

Hey there!

It’s a tough race for sure!
yeah turbulence can make it difficult to avoid the pylons (or the ground for that matter) when you’re racing at the limit lol
no worries, crashes happen, it’s best to rather give up a few seconds staying away from other players til things settle down and then hope that you can outspeed the leader.
great flying, keep it up!

Yes. and the problem of sticking the pedals and throttle during the race is still present for me, I found a solution in the form of one mouse right click anywhere on the screen, but every time I spend 1-2 seconds of race time on it. And extra attention is needed to constantly check the pedals and throttle, in addition to controlling the path and competitors.

Maybe this is such an implementation of the avionics failures in the game)))))

lol yeah, same for me, I usually do the adjustments after pylon 6, that long straight part of the track between plyon 6 and 7 is when you have a little time for such things

At what time do you race guys cause i haven’t seen any of you lately ?

I am in Unlimited now

Yeah that’s a bit early for me, first i need to wake up

it’s a bit random for me, EU and US peak times (9pm-ish) seem to be the best times to find an at least half-filled lobby, so will try to race around those times
Are you doing T-6 races currently? I need to improve my T-6 rating and should do time trials first, because my times aren’t that great currently lol

Yep, I wait for full lobby on the biplane and P51 but i can full around with the T6 anytime.

I stand corrected. It would seem I didn’t quite understand your original post. I too was originally puzzled by the times set. I’ve not changed the trim though, prop yes, wouldn’t changing the trim cause drag?

Just found out you can use custom liveries with the standard pack planes in Reno  At least in time trial, i still have to try this out during a race but lobbies are… EMPTY.

that makes sense actually, it’s a fixed environment with a limited number of planes, memory consumption can’t be an issue there
