This probably because the Studio Driver is clean of “tweaks” and because you don’t install the GeForce Experiance Software, which is the main culprit. I put a hold on the 22H2 update for now, I don’t want to take the chance.
Actually, the studio driver has optimizations as well:
NVIDIA Release Notes Win10
[DX12][Flight Simulator] Potential image corruption [3722516]
Tried tonight on dx12 for first time since early beta 10 not changed any settings since I was using it on beta .20 it’s the worst it’s been in a long time will be going back to DX11 it was way smoother! I’m only hitting 9.2gb vram out of 12 so fine there at lod 350 and ultra settings it just randomly jerks now then or has a minor freeze never seen that throughout beta 10 early on with DX12 or on DX11 after they removed the memory management. Not sure weather it’s because I’m now on the main su10 server but worst I’ve ever known it, I’ve never experienced small stutters just big obvious ones ![]()
Don’t see any reason to use DX12 I’ve never had CPU limited with the 5800x3d so will just stick with DX11 I think for a while.
Will go back to the previous version of DLSS aswell I think as had it running great then on DX11.
Not installed 22H2, cleared DX cache each time.
I was curious, I uninstalled nvidia Game Ready driver and installed Studio Driver, my problem before with DX12 was doing stutter\lag while panning or panning fast, now with the Studio Driver this is fixed with SU10. There is improvement for sure, like others stated.
Those who are are trying DX12, without studio driver it’s not worth, unless you wait for game ready to be released later, maybe next week. You may need the DDU app to uninstall current driver as well if still issue with studio driver.
I tried the studio driver a few days ago with DX12 and it was the worse performance I have seen in this sim. Terrible stutters when panning and I can’t blame Asobo. I notice an uptick in VRAM usage and my 2060super 8gb just runs gets full otherwise little to no issues with DX11 minus the annoying pauses now and then.
some had this, but after using DDU app driver to uninstall GPU drivers was fixed, also if you use game experience might cause issue, you need to disable overlay.
I do not use GFORCE experience. I only installed the Graphics driver nothing else. I also use DDU to uninstall the drivers. The issue is my GPU. Settings are likely too high for DX12 even with DLSS.
Today I’ve found finally some time to do some tests as well and unfortunately, while DX12 works really great I’ve noticed a very big need in VRAM which makes everything unplayable!
The VRAM issue is something which has to do in both DX11 and DX12 but is worst specially on the last one.
Actually in the game under the DX12 is written that the DX12 mode needs more memory and can create stutters and other issues if the VRAM is not available as needed.
I have a 3080 10GB and unfortunately I must confirm as many others that are not enough!
It’s memory is getting full and I loose a lot the fps as consequence. I have the Studio drivers installed and I am just wondering if the famous Game Drivers will make a fix or optimization on this.
This issue is very prominent over the PG areas while over the other “normal” areas things are better.
Not all of us have a 3090 with 24GB of ram…
My 2 cents!
I forgot to say, I have also hyperthreading desabled, when enabled I can loose around 10fps\13FPS.
Is using DDU any different from selecting clean install from the driver update I don’t use experience just download direct from Nvidia.
If you want to send me your flight plan, I would be willing to test it out on my end. I have tried my own test with the 208B with the G1000 Nxi, but couldn’t reproduce the problem.
DDU remove driver in safe mode, much stronger if older or corrupted files are mixed. Also outside drivers, Windows Game mode on/ off can make difference for stutters
I use windows 20, AMD graphic card RX 580 and Ryzen 5 2600 CPU
Thank you. I will make a short video and share it.
Wow. Is 16GB VRAM enough? I haven’t done any updates yet (not playing game, no 2H22, Nvida) - still monitoring the forums.
I have 10GB not 16.
Thanks for that info. I’ll give it a whirl on my MSFS PC version.
I went back to 512.59, and my performance in DX11 improved.
I get a CTD when trying to pop the VFR map out of the in-sin window as well. I’ll continue to use LittleNavMap in the interim.
Running great here nice and smooth and the weather is great. Thankyou very much Asobo well done on this update.
