Discussion + Poll: World Update VI (1.19.8.0)

@NumberNumber481 Did you have to insert the whole thing? I don’t have that setting at all…

For that matter, I don’t have that setting in my config file AT ALL, even for 2d. Are we dealing with something other than usercfg.opt?

Spent the best part of an hour performing a few default short flights, same procedure after every update. My observations are based on an hour of gameplay which is IMO enough to see if there have been some improvements.

  1. Performance is great, stable frames as before the update and there seems to be an increase while flying a little higher, something which was present before SU5.
  2. LOD in every direction looks better, most sliders on Ultra and the terrain LOD looks as good as it’ll ever look so I’m really pleased about that.
  3. Clouds look less grainy and the atmo effects look more pronounced
  4. Night Lighting issue is present as others have already reported, I’m sure we will get a hotfix soon for this issue, if not it’s nice to now there is a workaround with RS at 100 (personally set to 140, Terrain LOD 3.0 and objects at 2.0)

Overall I believe it’s a step in the right direction, there are still some naggy issues like the terrain morphing problem but all in all I’m pretty impressed with the update so far.

Thanks for info, i will be there.

There are some questions need to be asked about this “Microsoft ScreenShot Simulator” (announced as simulator for simmers and as real as it gets).

Thank you, not sure it is the same issue though, but it is similar. We have no adjusters on XBox it is whatever they set it to on release. We need hotfixes to adjust our invisible sliders!

I think there is something wrong with my pre-release copy of Ju

Syriusly wtf, it’s not only one wrong named plane.

Nope.. definitely usercfg.opt

Have you loaded the sim since WU6? Do you see the off-screen cache setting in the PC graphics setting in the sim?

EDIT - or do you by chance have the file set read-only from previous manual setting?

Yes to both. And I have that setting set to high on the PC settings. As many have noticed and noted, it doesn’t exist in VR. However, despite having that set to high (and I think I’ve got more than enough performance room to go to Ultra, despite having “only” a 2070 Super), that setting does not exist anywhere in my usercfg.opt file.

The game now freezes when you move the plane further away with Y-mode.

I would say default ground textures world wide are pretty dang good, I mean, we could go back FSX generic textures..

Yes still no flight details on world map showing distance and eta, trying a fresh install to hopefully fix the issue.

Same for me here in South Australia.
Unbelievable (or…not really!)

not sure my edit made it before you replied. Im not sure.. As soon as I saw the PC setting in the sim (but no corresponding VR setting), I looked in the usercfg file and sure enough it was there.

Your certain your usercfg isn’t read-only? If you change something in the sim and save it, you see the change reflected in the file?

Maybe create a backup of it… delete the file and then restart the sim… it should create a new one

Agree with DonSimone80

Performance, stability, quality, all good … only flown around for an hour but nice and smooth.

No problem with download started PC in the UK at 16.05

1, Started Sim and directed to Microsoft Store to update.
2, Top righthand corner click on the Vertical Ellipsis ⋮
3, Click downloads & updates. ( P.S. From what I remember it took a minute or so to start in the store )
4, Download starts, is about 500Mb takes about a minute / then close.
5, Start sim and Update will be shown/click start …size 2.67GB took 15 mins to download.
6, Go to Catalogue and see world update VI Ger, Aus, Switzerland, size 5.10 GB looks like it will take 10 mins to come in.
7, Thanks to ShierLattice199 for reminding me, go to the content manager. All WU’s received an update, including DeLuxe and Premium content and Garmin … around 5.00 GB total

How about an attempt to do something which appears to be plaguing the vast majority of Xbox users? Glass cockpit aircraft screens going black, not a battery/electrical issue (unless following the checklists is somehow wrong) after somewhere between 1 or 2 hours of flight, but once or twice it’s taken less time than that. Every time, without fail. Every glass cockpit aircraft. I’ve had it happen to me with the A320, Kingair, TBM930, Citation. The only reason it hasn’t happened to me in the others is likely because I haven’t undertaken long enough flights. There are quite a few threads on here with a fair amount of people complaining about it. It’s ruining the game, for me. As I can’t sit and play a game wondering if the screens are going to go dark/black. It’s utterly infuriating and killing the experience for me, and others too. It needs to be addressed.

  1. I never had a problem with Culling while panning the camera.
I don’t know if \it was fixed or not.
  2. I had previously changed the UserCfg.opt file as follows:
    Preset Custom
    ObjectsLoD = 9
    TerrainLoD = 9
    File set to read Only
  3. Still need to set this after this update.
This was not affected by this update.

It is. That must be the issue, I’ll change that and see what happens.

Fixed for now anyway, now wheres the road lights ?

I’m guessing you’ve edited the config file before and now it is set to read only? You can simpluy delete the file and it will be regenerated by the sim on startup, but you’ll obviously lose your graphics and some other settings - but easy enough to fix those.

That should generate the settings for the off screen cache

Dear Asobo team, thank you for your work, this update today completely changes my gaming experience, the new graphics option available now allows me to be able to operate the Vram of my graphics card, as well as the RAM of the PC . Congratulations to everybody! it works really well!
