Dlss 3.5 is ready to be used via DLSS swapper. Anyone tried allready?
What do you mean by 3.5? The technology version (AI Enhanced Ray Tracing - not supported in MSFS) or DLSS DLL driver version available in the swapper 3.5.0.0 - v2?
Could you please share your results?
BTW: This thread is 100+ posts long.
There are just a few posts hinting for possible subjectively perceived minor improvements resulting from usage of the DLSS version newer than the one provided (and supposedly tested) by Asobo in the original sim installation package and their official sim updates.
Majority of the posts is about Xbox/store folder structure, lack of privileges, using tricks with Linux, checking digital signatures, even some about corrupting the MSFS install - forcing full reinstall.
I wonder if we are placebo enthusiasts here?
I’ve downloaded it. Has anyone tried it with msfs yet?

Quick check with 3.5: same fps, looks same. Makes no difference to me.
Just tried 3.5 and can’t see any difference in MSFS. (DLSS/Quality / VR)
Same here, looks same. But upgrading frame generation .dll, makes my sim little bit smoother.
Thank you for posting your results. Just a remark - Nvidia Frame Generation (DLSS FG) doesn’t work in VR (and we are on VR subforum here). You can read more here:
I also tested DLSS DLL v.3.5.0.0 - no noticable improvement. So I reverted to the version provided by Asobo, to avoid potential compatibility issues.

If I understand correctly, NVIDIA DLSS DLL works for any Nvidia 20 and 30 series card.
Instead, NVIDIA DLSS 3 Frame Generation DLL is only for the 40 series.

True DLSS FG requires RTX 40x0. And DLSS FG doesn’t work in VR. The main benefit of RTX 40x0 series for VR is the raw power of 4090, and lower electricity consumption vs. RTX 30x0 series per performace (when comparing corresponding models e.g. 3090 vs. 4090).
MSFS has DLSS components already included/installed. You don’t need to install anything to benefit from:
- DLSS super sampling on any 20x0, 30x0, 40x0 card in non-VR or VR,
- DLSS Frame Generation on 40x0 in non-VR mode only.
Ok. So, NVIDIA DLSS DLL can be installed to use its benefits on RTX cards, as long as it is not in VR. Correct?
“nvngx_dlss.dll” is DLSS (Quality, Performance, Balanced) can be used both in VR and non-VR.
“nvngx_dlssg.dll” is DLSS 3 (Frame generation) is only for non VR.
It’s all there in MSFS graphic settings “PC” and “VR”.

I have to give up.
I cannot access the game directory.
The developers are giving me such a nightmare…
I use the XBox-App for trying to change the installation directory. It is D:??? (The app does not tell me the folder!)
When trying to move, only D: is available with a warning sign, ‘not enough disk space’.
And the hint to change the default installation folder, I need to set it in profile - general preferences -…
I go there and see, it is already set to C:\XBoxGames.
Why is this not available in the game setting?
OK, I have a lot more drives. Changing it to E:\XBoxGames. (enough free space).
Updates the XBox App, Rebooted, restarted the app.
No change in the game setting. There is still no option for a different drive.
If I would like to unistntall, the button is almost out of the small dialog at the lower border. I cannot the read the text of the button , because it is too low.
I know, that this is the “Uninstall Game” button, because of other peoples’ screenshots.
My screen resolution is 1920x1080 at 100%. So what?
I gave up moving the game to get access to it’s directory.
I gave up trying to use DX12 with the RTX 4090.
i tried 6 different NVidia drivers so far. But the game crashes right after clicking “start flight”, when in DX12 and HGS activated.
Without this, Frame Generation is impossible.
So what for did I buy a RTX 4090???
Is spent hours and hours for this.
Not to speak of a long list of bugs, that exist since the first release, and are not fixed until today.
Examples:
- No cockpit view (for home-cockpit builders). The button does not do anything since it exists.
- Very often steering on ground with an XBox controller is impossible. The rudder geht stuck at full left or full right. When already lifted off, I then crash into the ground right away…
- throttle not moving when using an XBox controller AND LOOKING NOT at the throttle
- throttle not moving when using an XBox controller AND LOOKING at the throttle
(sometimes so, sometimes the opposit) - Having choosen the wrong audio device before starting MSFS, there is no way to change it, except disable all other sound devices in the system - or restart MSFS.
- Restarting MSFS takes about 6 minutes at an high end PC (ok, have a couple of addons installed)
- Each crash or restart costs such a long time I can not tell if I did fly longer or watched the starting screen longer.
And my list is even longer with BASIC not working or misbehaving features.
All this is an endless, time consuming nightmare!
