Does MSFS2024 actually work for anyone?

Consider Hi-Fi audio.

Some speakers are expensive and can handle high power levels and frequencies from 20Hz (or lower) to 20kHz (or higher.) Some are much less expensive and can only handle limited power, and have a frequency response of 100Hz to 15kHz.

Should there be one amplifier available that can deliver high power levels and a full range of frequencies? Or should those with expensive and more capable speakers have to connect them to a low-end amplifier? They’ll still make sound, but how will they sound?

Low-end amps will work with high-end speakers, but the money spent on those speakers will be wasted.

Those with low-end speakers can connect to a high-end amp, but they won’t be able to achieve the highest fidelity.

I don’t think we got a high-end amp.

Hi, I’ve already managed to play the game several times but since the update, it’s very random. I only managed to log in once and have always been stuck at 68%. Other people in this situation? Are the servers still saturated?

Respectfully, you appear to have read another post and confused it with mine. The following words…

‘designed’,
‘lower’,
‘specification’,
‘equipment’,
‘expensive’,
‘blaming’,
‘should’
‘shouldn’t’

…appear only in the response you typed, not in the post you are replying to.

I’ve found that when something does not make sense to me it does me a world of good to go back and read exactly what was written. Helps me avoid responding to what I…

‘Think’

…was written.

Or just have sliders to adjust resolution, graphics quality, level of detail, framerate etc. The XBox doesn’t have these because the hardware is invariant. PCs have adjustments to accommodate different hardware capabilities and to allow the user to set the compromises they are satisfied with.

So a non-issue.

So if my tires are P-rated, and can handle sustained speeds of 120 mph, but my engine is limited to 80 mph, am I getting all the performance my system is capable of?

For me worked from day 1.After i waited for a week to download the sim.
I install windows 11 with all the updates
then install fs2024 standard version and Fenix as add on
cpu amd 7800X3D
gpu rx 7800xt 16g
ram G.Skill 32g 6000

After setting latest BIOS to default settings, I have turned on XMP and switched RAM frequency back to 6000Mhz (max. potential) instead of default 5600Mhz( 4x 16GB DDRM5 ). Works great, at least for now  Hope future updates don’t mess this up.

At the moment it works, basically don’t fly anything other than the Caravan. Can’t get the Fenix liveries to show up unfortunately.
Hopefully the broken jetways will be solved because I get these at literally every airport where I land. This streaming issue is probably too difficult. Nice to see gliders at the gate :scream:

Wakkanai Airport Japan.

Well the broken Jetways have been and still are a problem also in MSFS2020 at standard airports. We all hope this gets fixed but for now it may only help to buy the payware version of the airports you are landing on or have a look at flightsim.to, maybe there is a free handcrafted version.

Regarding the glider: Is this the standard multiplayer in MSFS or is that VATSIM?

Hi,
have a look on below quote from a previous post I have posted.

I have both 2020 and 2024 installed. On a good day (no crashes or glitches) and with the right GA aircraft 2024 can be magical… I have had some great flights during random missions where the flight model felt great and the visuals were excellent.

However, I haven’t had much success with airliners and big airports in 2024 and am reverting to 2020 until Asobo and 3rd parties really get their planes and airports sorted.

I can see this happening at some point in 2025 hopefully sooner rather than later. When this happens I will migrate fully.

PC user with these specs:

Intel i7-13700KF, 3.4 GHz
64GB DDR5
RTX 4070Ti, 28 GB

The sim is working extremely well for me - more so after just doubling RAM from 32GB. I had previously experienced significant stuttering on different occasions when panning view around in the cockpit. Increasing RAM has almost eliminated this.

Also just updated main board BIOS (was way overdue). I overclock nothing.

Almost every sim graphics setting is on Ultra. TLOD and OLOD are currently 250 / 150. (Still a ways from max setting- need to experiment with bumping these up more). Rolling cache is currently at 128. I’ve only flown GA so far. Frame rate is seldom less than 100.

In my community folder: A2A PA-24, Black Square piston Duke and TBM 850, FSW C-414, Asobo TBM 930. I manually run FSRealistic after sim start.

Also, I don’t use VR. TrackIR works great for me. Seems like most performance issues are with VR users on lower-end systems.

Anyway - for whatever all that’s worth…

You may have happened upon something i discovered ages ago: I have never reinstalled 2020 when it went wrong - just fixed the X-Box app on my PC. And rather than relying on the repair option I found it quicker to uninstall, restart PC then reinstall. Everytime the sim would then work OK. On some occasions it wasn’t even neccessary - if the app received an update while simming it often broke the sim but only until an exit and restart. (My UK evening sim time often coincides with them updating stuff)

I always fly on, as in almost never to the same airport again, around the world the whole time. Wakkanai for example I visited about 4 years ago. So, now via Russia to Alaska and who knows what’s next. But occasionally I use a free airport, they’re great but it’s mostly one time use. Still way better than the FS version indeed.

Got it  Well then we need to hope that Asobo fixes this problem. In the meantime as you seem to fly with general aviation aircraft, look for a general aviation parking area as in real life, then you will not get in visual touch with buggy Jetways

It seems to work for me although some of the landscape aren’t looking great. Niagara Falls looks funky.

I would argue that the xbox version would be the lowest specifications needed. FS2020 runs great on it. 2024 doesnt yet, and will probably be plagued with stutters until we all have superman crystal optical internet connections, OR there are only 1000 people playing.

It’s working, sure, but it’s very ugly looking most of the time with a choppy frame rate. Only around certain areas it looks decent where there isn’t too much photogrammetry or busy/heavily populated cities e.g. or where fog, haze, and clouds conceal the draw distance, then it looks somewhat decent.

I’m actually still in a state of shock to see how a product this bad looking and bad performing actually made it to the approved list of Gamepass games “ready to play”.

I think the real issue is lack of optimisation and servers not built or ‘tuned’ to handle all that data and users around the world.

If they got MSFS '20 to look and perform so well before SU15, they can certainly do the same with 2024. It’s an unoptimised mess, unfortunately. Thankfully, just trying it out on Gamepass but I truly feel bad for people who preordered the game, and especially the full edition.
