Just wondering if everybody has download issues today or just me? I have two highly frustrating problems.

  1. Super slow. I have fiber optic cable and normally can download 40GB in under 20 minutes, it’s been two hours so far and I’m almost at 5GB of 40GB :frowning:

  2. Nothing taxes my 3090 more than MSFS updates! 80 degrees, fans so loud the PC itself sounds like a plane ready for take-off. I’ve now gone into MSI Afterburner and turned the max temp to 70% and power for 60% and its thankfully quiet again now but its ridiculous that just downloading an update does that amount of GPU stress…

Are these problems common to everybody or just me?

  1. MSFS just rolled out to XBOX at the same time as SU5. Servers are taxxed to the limit right now given that it is such a massive update, and the excessive demand of the XBOX release. So much so not everyone is even able to commence the update yet. It will take time. Grab a cup of tea or a cold one :slight_smile:

  2. Restore/Minimise the window, and reduce it’s size to the smallest that it allows. This will reduce the load on the GPU.

Same here… It’s been downloading since 1700… It’s 2000 now and it s only done 60%… All my updates so far have been fast and smooth.

Download speed is 100+mbit. But the please wait thingy is terrible…

Cap the frame rate when updating in nvidia control panel.

I have a permanent flow of 900 mb/sec, I launched the update at 5h15 pm from france, it’s 8h12 pm and I’m only at 19 GO / 40, while I see others who have finished the update. What’s the secret?

Well since the update was available my pc managed to download and install 85% so far. 3h+ :frowning:

There is no secret :smiley: It’s just a bit of luck, a solid bandwith from your ISP and the MS server load balancing. So nothing you can influence :wink: But you are not alone :woozy_face:

every bloody time the server is rammed with every update, and also massive bloody download too, pain in the friggin ■■■■

I dread every download MSFS2020 launches, what’s the point having fast internet when the server downloads at snail pace. shocking for this day in age. its worse than dial up…

Does anyone know whether its safe or not to cancel the update process and restart it tomorrow?

It is. It will resume where you left it

I cancelled mine and switched off, going give it 2 days before I try again.
