EGDX - St Athan airbase South Wales

Please could someone who has the know how create the airfield for msfs2024 . It was an ex RAF airfield used for repairs and aircraft servicing and now has passed to civilian contractors one of which is Bruce Dickinson of Iron maiden fame company, also home to E Cube aircraft dismantlers and the home of the Aston Martin car company factory.

Thanks in advance if possible,

Paul.

It would be great to have FS2024 native version St Anthan (especially one with a drivable version of the Aston Martin DBX S produced there).

But have you tried the two FS2020 St Athan addons over at flightsim.to?

They are over 3 years old. But some FS2020 airports work reasonably well in FS2024.

My brother in law worked on the James Bond Aston. You know the one that had the bullet protector plate extend up behind Bond in the DB5 - I think Goldfinger

That’s cool Pilotfirst9999!

Yes. I think it was for Goldfinger.

Was your brother-in-law able to get you on set to check it out in real life?

The closest I have ever been to that DB5, was when I had the Corgi Toys version.

No, goodness, poor fellow has passed now as he was 20 years older than me. He did all the moulding of the fenders and body work when they ordered it for the movie.
I don’t know too much about the process’ back in the day but I do know he did his apprenticeship in British Railways building the coach cars. Those days they stuffed asbestos into everything and he conracted asbestosis.
I would have loved to have shown him the flight sim it would have tickled him pink.

You could try suggesting it to Burning Blue Design — having just released Kemble, it’s right up their street!

I am sorry to hear that your brother-in-law contracted asbestosis. It is a terrible disease.

But it is pretty cool that he was a coach builder for British Rail and got to apply that experience to the Goldfinger DB5.

Yes. It would have been really interesting to hear what he thought of MSFS 2024 (and of some of the driving and train sims we have today).

We may spend a lot of time in forums grumbling about this or that feature. But to live in a time when we have the current versions of MSFS, X-Plane, Illusin-2, and DCS to grumble about is to be pretty privileged.
