ERROR Crash: msfs error: dxgi_error_device_hung (0x887a0006)

Need a little bit more help, can you tell me what to look for? See attachement

Unfortunately you have the worst code of the lot to diagnose. That could be almost anything, from something within the sim to something external to it interfacing it.

Depending on how regular this occurs this may be easy to find or nigh impossible. If it’s more regular it will be easy to tell the difference, but my advice would be to try a few flights with an empty Community folder, and with no external software connecting to it.

The easiest way to start with an ā€œemptyā€ Community folder is to rename it. When the sim next launches it won’t find a Community folder, so will create an empty one for you. To undo this delete the empty Community folder, and change the renamed one back.

Ok thx again will do that.

Weird thing is that there are days without any problem and the next day I have 2 or 3. All settings the same.

Again thank you very much

Just installed Sim Update 2 - Now get a total crash on ever attempt to start the game with this error on the thread.

Windows 11
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X CPU
64gb 3200 DDR4 Ram
RTX5070ti 16gb GPU on the Game (Latest Drivers update 12th May)
RTX3060 12gb for additional monitors

Checked both cards. 5070ti is running at 33 degrees centigrade, 3060 is running at 41 degrees centigrade on crash so it is NOT my GPU overheating as error suggests!

This is an absolute joke… SU2 is supposed to fix bugs, not introduce CTD’s

Same issue here - first time on Sim Update 2; was in beta with absolutely no problems.

Tried flying today; two crashes, one two hours into the flight - the other one 20min in

Same issue as well. Didn’t really have this before SU2. I don’t have any OC on the system and have the latest display drivers from Nvidia. High performance system with no cooling issues. Would be great if Asobo fixes bugs instead of just making things less playable.

Exact same thing here. I had never seen this error pre-beta or during beta, but it appeared yesterday when loading a second flight.

I don’t have an overclocked GPU, it wasn’t overheating (I have the temp monitored on my AIO’s display), I have the latest AMD Adrenaline driver (which was used during the beta), so I have no idea what triggered it.

On flight one, I had loaded the 772 at InI’s KLAX with BATC & FSLTL models to test the behavior of VRAM, which spilled over a few times.

I quit the flight (without ever leaving the gate), loaded the C310 at a small regional autogen airport and never got past the walkaround due to this error appearing.

Yep same here. Did a fresh install of Windows and 2024 SU2 and getting this message every time I load the sim. Sometimes it happens on the main menu before I can even get into a flight. I’m yet to have the sim stay open for more than 10 minutes without it crashing with this message!

I’m running a comply stock (no overclock) 9950X3D and 5090. Tried three different driver sets - All the same result.

C’mon Asobo…

Same issue here — never had this before! It only happened with the Fenix. I did some flights with the iniBuilds A350 and the Cows DA42 without any issues.

i think it could be a memory leak hopefuly itll be fixed soon sim update 1 had no issues

I managed to pin point this to very specific scenario:
I have a HP reverb g2 and when I enable motion reprojection in the OpenXR Tools for WMR it crashes after a minute or so. Both TAA and DLSS tested.
Does someone else has this issue in this scenario?

4090
13900k
64gb

I did the update to SU2 this morning after running the Beta for a month or more, and now i cannot even load the Sim. Asobo and MS it is an absolute joke, but ridiculous and like a scam for all the simmers! You are distroing your reputation and trust that you built with the 2020 version. We want back the 2020 stability, and of course, our money back

Add me to the list of people suffering this error.

Did a clean install of Windows 11 on my new 9950X3D and 5090. No oveclock on either the GPU or CPU. Getting this error within 5 minutes of loading 2024. Sometimes the game crashes on the intro movie, sometimes after flying for 5 minutes.

I’ve tried a bunch of different NVIDIA drivers without success… I can’t beleive this error has been going on for this long and Asobo have done nothing to troubleshoot it!!

Hi @Mods,

Just wondering if we can get this BUG LOGGED thread and this FEEDBACK LOGGED Thread merged together as one combined BUG LOGGED thread?

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/dxgi-error-device-hung-0x887a0006/666759/105

Clearly this issue is ruining the sim experience for a number of simmers across a range of different hardware specs. Combining them seems like the best thing to do to have a single source of information and raise awareness with the devs.

Combined there’s around 130 votes between them.

Cheers,

So a little update… since SU 2 things seem to run much smoother atm. Not a single CTD (fingers crossed it will stay like this :crossed_fingers:t3:)

At first I had a huge drop in fps end 1% low in SU2 causing a slide show but was able to fix that.

Yeah but it doesn’t look like you actually had the error most of us here are suffering (0X887A0006)

Yes, their crash was unrelated to this.

For me, I think it was related to the installation of the latest Nvidia driver. I had the same error in MSFS2020. Initially, I didn’t do a clean installation of the driver, but after performing a clean install, I haven’t encountered the error again.

I’m in SU3 beta and no issue !

Hi, I’m having this same issue as well. Latest Nvidia driver, trying to start up MSFS 2020. Did a clean install of the GPU driver to see if that helps. No luck whatsoever. It is very frustrating when you cannot access the product you purchased and an hour of your life is spent troubleshooting

Switching to Dx12 solved it! This should be part of a description somewhere, or force it to Dx12 to save users the headache
