Actual, widespread, non beta release to everyone? Swear I heard it said it would be in sometime in April in a dev update livestream and read things to that effect, but searching now I can’t find any information or even predictions about when SU2 will be out of beta and it’ll be released for real?
I see 1.4.11 beta was released yesterday, so I assume that’ll need to be out for at least a week before another beta or a full release will happen?
I’m not trying to hurry anyone and I’m not complaining it’s not released yet! I am just curious! I’ve never tried VR on 2024 and I figure I’ll wait until SU2 is fully released before I take the Crystal out of the box again…
I think it was said that the original plan was for SU 2 to be released by the end of april, so will be interesting to see if that will actually happen. SU 2 beta brought massive improvements to the sim.
I don’t know but I think they stated there would be one SU every quarter, not rushing it, making sure it’s done well, no regressions blah blah… so that would make SU2 in like June??
My Personal Comment & Observation
Like all plans though, schedules may change as circumstances require. If the MS team thinks they need more time to fix some critical issue(s), then IMO the release could slide into May.
Thanks for that! I wasn’t just imagining the “In April” thing! I’m eager to get it, but yes, I’d rather wait for them to feel confident it’s stable and ready to go. And if that means May, perhaps that would be frustrating personally given my eagerness, but entirely understandable and reasonable. Quality and stability is key right now I think.
It’s obvious it’s going to be May, SU1 was delayed, the SU2 beta was delayed, of course SU2 release will be delayed. WU Brazil was delayed a year. People need to stop believing Asobo when they give out release dates on their stuff, they clearly can’t deliver
I’m trying hard to be patient, but things are such a mess right now. I made the mistake of trying VR and not only did it only crash to desktop the first time I tried, the subsequent attempts just displayed dysfunctional views, bad black chunks in the views, froze input so I couldn’t Alt-Tab out of VR, etc.
Then after just trying to go back to regular monitor flying, I get 5FPS!!!
2024 is just BADLY BROKEN.
I PRAY SU2, whenever it comes, fixes some of this DISASTER.
I am actually going to guess that this is going to happen today, because today some of my posts have been moved into the normal bugs section instead of being under SU2 Beta threads.
PMDG says they are going to release the 777-200ER between 4/29 to 5/1. They aren’t going to do that and not be SU2 compatible (in fact quite a few 3rd parties are depending on SU2 for release of their updates/products). Plus like I said, bugs that were in the beta section are now being moved to the regular bugs section. So I am guessing today or tomorrow is the SU2 release.
In the past, they have made last minute fixes that they release, check to make sure no major complaints with, and do a quick production release on. Since the forum moderators are moving beta bugs into the normal bugs thread, its bound to happen soon. They don’t start beta cleanup unless release is imminent.
I think they are waiting for the stability of the latest BETA build (1.4.16.0) released on 4/28. It appears the previous build might have introduced severe stuttering in the sim. Quite a few YouTubers were experiencing stuttering with build 1.4.14.0.
I actually do not mind waiting a week or two longer if it means SU2 will be released with high quality.
Hopefully when all the bugs are sorted, Asobo can take as much time as needed as far as I’m concerned, never have we seen this level of focus on VR, who knows when it will come under the spotlight next
Hi there, This is an educated guess, but I would say next week sometime after they started the .16 version but I would be willing to wait until they got most of the bugs…
A fool’s errand, but my money’s on Thursday and they roll the tricky problems into SU3 while reverting back to one of the less contentious versions we saw in SU2. The joke’s on me but thinking it’s time to roll-back and move on.
