ETA for Sim Update 2 full release ETA?

but how? No updates or even real release notes in the last 2 weeks. So what are they doing to improve it?

I am a really long-term fan of MSFS since 1984 Bruce Artwick’s SubLogic but now, honestly, this is pathetic.

No news, no development…no hope?

The CMs seem totally AWOL.

They pop in for a millisecond to post the “Developer Update” and update their Community Event posts and disappear again.

This is a very weird time in this forum’s life. It feels sort of semi-abandoned. The dev update isn’t even current and hasn’t been for weeks, the beta sub-forum feels like it is just here for us users now, with little to no input from HQ.

Even the post rate has slowed immensely. I have five threads that have been updated less than an hour ago, the rest are far older. It feels like a dying product.

Agreed, weird tone around here.

Perhaps Asobo is using Newark’s radios, and their radar lost connection. Seriously, it’s time to open comms again! We are certainly vocal, and we’d like some return. If they can’t do it – then let them hire someone to be a spokesperson here on the forums. But the extended silence is unnecessary when they’re supposed to be transparent with their plans after that disastrous release.

I’m sure we’ll get a vague one liner update in this week’s amazing “Development Update” aka " Weekly livery packs update"

Agree. Let’s get a more complete and tested SU2!

I just took a screenshot and noticed a new little menu now appears when you hit Win/prtSc. Is this the new update?

I noticed that too. Not only here but also on Reddit and other forums. The overall community engagement seems way down. The official twitch streams seem to be on a constant decline. Rise of a pilot streams are on indefinite hiatus. I don’t remember it being this ‘quiet’ back with 2020. There were always lots of discussions going on that weren’t bugs or complaints. But right now it is really quiet

People have moved on, I know I have. Been simming for 40 years but times have changed.

You get one chance these days, you muff it and people go and do their things. They had the attention until SU1 and then people understood that the sim was 70 % done 3 months down the road. That was when I noticed that some active users just threw in the towel.

I am full on DCS these days, prefer civilian flying but VR and other issues that are not fixed as of yet make me not want to put up with it. My favorite planes are a mess or not available in MSFS 2024.

It is not the end of the world but it is strange that we are basically getting another MSFS 2020 first year again.

I would assume steam is fairly representative, so I just looked at the steam db player data/charts.

Combined player counts for 2020 and 2024 currently are roughly the same as 2020 before launch of 2024, but numbers are going down. Some players obviously migrated from 2020 to 2024 as you can see in the charts.
2024 then saw a sharp drop in player count and it continues to decline steadily.

So while the hardcore simmers are still active, a large portion of the current player base is playing 2020 while 2024 is still in a bear market and the bottom is yet to be found.

I think a lot of people are just tired of spending all their time playing, testing, and posting here because - let’s be honest - with every step forward, we also take a step or two back. While SU2 is really promising in some ways, it also introduced some major new problems.

My issue is the fixes that they have made in SU2 beta are making SU1 not all that enjoyable for me. But SU2 isn’t great in its current, stuttery state and updates to the beta to try out are few and far between. As such, I’ve not really flown on 2024 in over a week. Done a couple of group flights with friends on 2020 but other than that I have been, like you say, away off doing other things

Nowhere near ready for release!!!

I wouldn’t be surprised if they abandoned it at this point

Hi all,

Please can I just send a friendly reminder to please keep this thread on topic as per the original post. I can see a number of separate conversations on a variety of topics, which most likely already have existing threads available for discussion elsewhere on the forums!

Thanks for understanding

Seeing you’re online, can we get an answer to the topic question?

Hey @lurch83,

Please rest assured that as soon as we are able to share any further communication about the upcoming release of Sim Update 2, we will do so! I’m sorry I can’t give any more updated timescales at this exact moment in time.

Thanks

That is a great question indeed…and if it`s not released anytime soon a note from the devs on how various fixes are progressing …and a good forward thinking pro-active approach on the betterment of the sub par performance of the sim despite the so called multicore optimisation implementation.

Is it possible then to get an actual dev update with some info so we at-least have some sort of knowledge of what’s in the process of being fixed?

You beat me to it, better language too thank you

There must be a logical explanation to this delay and as customers we should be kept in the loop.
