Nothing is going on besides a lot speculating and fantasizing.
Asobo is working hard and SU2 takes them a bit longer to finish than they hoped.
I think in one of the devs streams Jörg said he hopes for an end of April release but made it very clear that this is not a fixed date. If it takes longer it takes longer, they won’t rush SU2.
It’s actually pretty normal for companies to just say nothing if they don’t have good news. And since more communication won’t change the outcome they probably just keep quiet to not stir the pot unnecessarily.
That was fast. Thanks for reply.
I got u, i was trying hard to create a topic, lol. My bad
Honestly, i don’t like to be much on forums, because it takes a lot of energy and time and even misunderstandings. Was wondering what is going on. Somebody wrote here that MSFS2020 took 10 months for a update. That is the worst what could happen. Many third party Devs are waiting for SU2 to drop their updates on the marketplace etc. Like Just Flight with their PA-28 series. If Asobo need 10 months (as example) we all have to wait for certain add-ons etc.
I was the one who wrote that one SU took 10 months. That is not the normal case. For the one I was referring to, it was to add DLSS shortly after NVidia released DLSS. One of the provided modes in MSFS did not work right, and it wasn’t an MSFS issue, it was an NVidia issue which then they had to wait for NVidia to release before they could release.
I only brought it up as an extreme example to say, yes, we are one month after when SU2 was projected to release. But that was a projection. A best guess. There are some fixes they are making to things found, and it is taking a bit longer. But it is nothing to be overly concerned about.
Many people are waiting for SU2 for either the VR fixes, or their favorite addon is being held up until after release. I get it, people are anxious. But it will come.
If I had to guess I would say that Asobo has to REALLY get SU2 in tip top shape, why? Because we, the community really wants them to get this right, a lot more 3rd party devs are now releasing their Aircraft, Scenery and Utilities too. I think SU2 is the big one, for me its definitely running so smooth, I think they are finding that sweet spot for everyone so nothing breaks when it comes to future Sim Updates… Add to that the amount of work that has gone into optimization, getting the heart of the software just right so everything remains stable.
Putting on my speculation hardhat, one big reason we may not be hearing anything and time is just passing us by MAY be that they are closed beta testing some marketplace features. At the end of SU1, there was at least one beta version that was not released to the public to test, that was the Marketplace. The unintended consequences of that snafu were almost memorable, so hopefully SU2 releases without that fanfare! In any case, Marketplace features are soon expected so maybe???
PMDG have said themselves they are holding back 2024 releases until SU2 is out, and I’m sure they are not alone.
So this SU2 is the marketplace backbone, if MS want to earn some side money via the MP they need to get this right. Surely we see a new build in 24hrs to test over the weekend, we can’t keep testing the current build it’s simply not up to standard with major performance issues in airliners
That’s my guess as to why the last few betas have skipped versions - we never got public releases of .15 or .17. I believe they thought .16 or .18 might be release candidates and the Marketplace features were included in .15 and .17 which would be the final versions if the release candidates were deemed good enough.
I believe this is why the final beta of SU1 was 1.3.24 but we “rolled back” to 1.3.23 because .24 didn’t have the Marketplace but .23 did.
Folks, we are in the loop, it is just a bit longer of a loop than many around here want. The Dev Livestreams are a priceless source of information, albeit not the easiest form of delivery to digest. When I watch them, I do so without the chat sidebar, so I can focus in on what the presenters are saying, and not saying. Sometimes I go back and rewatch them on YT or Twitch, or just part of them to really make sure I understand whatever it was that is understandable. There are language issues, yes. They don’t answer every question, yes. But the amount of information that does get through can lead to some real understanding about what is and isn’t going on behind the scenes. More importantly for me, I gain a deep appreciation for what the sim is and is not. YMMV but the loop is open to anyone who is tuning in and can whack-a-mole their way through the thick accents and corporate tap dancing!
