Yes, of course. Most of 2020 scenery and planes and others addons works normally. Just add 2020s addons to the 2024
s community folder or change sim comm. folder from 2020 to 2024 in addon linker tool.
You inspired me to take a look at Tenerife. Wow it’s bad - I added a comparison image to my first post!
As for Tenerife by IslandCreations, the developer said they will release a version for 2024 with a tree fix also. Probably for an extra fee, I think.
MSFS2024 bad tree autogen location all over the world
the autogen of the trees is totally wrong. It looks like you are flying in pure woods all the time. The new simulator creates forests that don’t exist, pasture areas are now forests, some crop fields are detected as forests, trees that don’t exist in reality are now located all over the scenery. In addition, the trees are large and extensive and do not let you see the houses or streets. This is not solved overnight, you have to completely rescan the world with new AI parameters. It looks like flying in fantasy scenarios far away from the reality.
hope Asobo will soon fix this issue
You may have an older version or you don’t have my mod because the trees in Canary Island are accurate.
I did a similar test today flying around my local area YBTL, external top view down and pausing and comparing with EFB satellite imagery. I tend to think and i could be wrong, but it kinda looks like In game generated trees include additional trees for the shadows visible in satellite imagery, hence adding additional row of trees,
Hi all, I have to confirm the autogen tree issue.
I am still on FS 2020 but the problem is the same here. It has always been there but it became significantly worse and more obvious with the last world update Germany-Austria-Switzerland.
At my home airfield EDBF (which is remarkably well done otherwise) the windsock is now hidden in a group of trees. Windsocks have always been popping into view quite too late but now it’s not visible at all and some of the trees are floating 1 or 2 feet above the ground.
At ED72 (a small airfield I very much liked to fly into because of the challenging short, sloped and somewhat a bit hard to find runway) the runway is now completely blocked by trees that are not there in real life (been there):
These are only two examples. On many small airfields things in the vicinity that I used for orientation have changed so they are harder to find/see.
Some villages near EDBF that I used to find my way when flying traffic pattern now look like little forests with a house popping out here and there.
Fields that clearly show the typical trails of tractors or whatever have placed trees all over them. On approach to RWY 28 at EDBF I have to be careful not to hit the trees on the fields.
Since I’m simming on XBox there are simply no settings i could tweak.
So dear Asobo team — you have done an outstanding job creating this entire world for us — please do something about this. It has been better previously
so reverting it to the state before the world update Germany-Austria-Switzerland would probably already go a long way as a first step.
Kind regards,
Frank
I, too, noticed this degredation last year in MSFS 2020, but I noticed it after WU 17 (UK and Ireland). Of course, that area has always looked awful, in no small part because every hedgerow (and the British Isles have millions of hedgerows) is rendered as a line of big trees, and always has been since 2020 was released. Sometime last year, however, trees definitely appeared in more places where there should be only grass or rock. As noted in many other posts, however, the problem isn’t, unfortunately, confined to any one region, but is rampant worldwide. It’s really frustrating, since with 2024 Asobo finally managed to make cliffs look decent, whereas in 2020 they looked like dirty sheets thrown over furniture, but the vegetation is often so jarringly unrealistic that it totally kills the illusion of “being there.”
Yes Microsoft Tree Simulator 2020 has way too many in much of europe and at my local airfield in Scotand it missed some trees and bushes at one end of a big grass flying area but added hundreds of trees to the circuit area making it look terrible. An update also coarsened the ground contours wrecking scenery I made to correct the place.
But in Microsoft Tree Simulator 2024 it is even worse and trees now also stand on the grass runways and in a ploughed field nearby.
But given that they never fixed the overkill in '20 I doubt that they ever will
Not only did they never fix it in 2020, they actually made it worse with updates. Moreover, has anyone from MS or Asobo ever acknowledged that the problem exists?
This thread is marked as “bug-logged” so I think the answer to that is yes.
Yes, I noticed that, so I guess I should have been more specific in that I don’t think they ever acknowledged it as being a problem in 2020. In any case, it was also a rhetorical question, since whether they acknowledged it or not, they never improved it in four years, and that speaks volumes. Anyway, I’m done with bug reports unless I find something really unusual that nobody else has caught. This forum gets me down. Time to go fly my Maddog.
Thank you for the reply. But I have the actual versions of IslandCreations texture and scenery of Tenerife. As for the areas of the island where coniferous trees grow and higher up towards the volcano, maybe it’s not so bad, because there really is a lot of vegetation there. But as for the lower areas and closer to the coast - in 2024 it’s just a nightmare. Everything is covered with bushes and trees where there are practically none. I contacted the developer of Island Creations of Tenerife, he said that the new version of Tenerife for 2024 with the tree fix will be released soon.
I was surprised read in the Jan 16 Development Update that this is “Partially fixed” in patch 2 (UK). I assume this means some tree data in the UK was fixed. I’ll need to revisit my first example to take a look, but tbh I’m not optimistic…
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• One example would be the trees all over the grass airstrip of EHHV (Hilversum )
