Eye of Africa sightseeing flight

Saw this incredible feature on someone else’s screenshot and had to visit it myself.

Took off from Atar international Airport GQPA and flew roughty ~100nm out on a 73deg bearing.
The feature was stunning as expected but the otherworldly landscape I flew over to get there was just as breathtaking.

I captured these shots on the flight back.

Very nice. Some gorgeous screenshots there mate. That terrain is just awesome.

Wow! Too bad the terrain on my end looks melted like buildings and ground.

:clap:t2:
Thanks for sharing. Amazing how the sim can be enjoyed despite some issues (which I’m sure will get fixed).

Beautiful flight and scenery! :small_airplane: :smiley_cat:

We can put continent tags (like “africa”) on our posts now to make it easier for people to find flights and pix.

Cheers all,

I just stay away from cities, nothing interesting to see there except urban sprawl, low framerates and some blink and you miss it models of buildings.

The phenomenal thing about this sim to me is the ability to just fly anywhere and marvel at the terrain. There are some jaw dropping vistas out there to find, and the sim does an amazing job of really selling it with the visuals.

I can’t wait to see where Asobo go with this one, improved mesh resolution and shallow water masks everywhere would be fantastic.

I beg to differ, some cities are worth visiting

Florence

Venice

Bologna

Rome

Vatican city

Naples

Palermo

Bari

Athens

Dresden

Berlin

Krakow

Bucharest

Minsk

Moscow

Cheboksary

Plenty great cities to explore, at low altitude, low speed.

I’ll certainly be visiting they eye of the Sahara as well, looks awesome! Although I generally don’t fly higher than 2K ft over above terrain except to fly over a mountain  Got to make an exception and climb climb climb.

I crossed the Alps today which are a bit of a mess with bad terrain meshes and alternating seasonal ground textures.

Mountains and cliffs in general keep disappointing.

Stromboli

Avoid avoid Northern Siberia

There are good cities and bad cities, good scenery and bad scenery.

Good scenery in Ireland

Iceland

The Ireland shot is at the cliffs at Gelncolumbkille

Iceland is in the South East, somewhere between Skálavatn BISV and Nordfjordur

Norway is at Suldalsvatnet

Have fun!
