So no SU1 before 2 week ? right ?

I think everyone is waiting to know when SU1 is going to be released, and really since it is 3 months now since 2024 was released asobo should know by now when it will be out. The fact that the store is still 'available soon" is getting beyond a joke.

It’s so frustrating that these two apps are being played like a game of ping-pong. FS24 has, by their own words, thousands of bugs, so you want to stay with FS20. But FS20 appears to be the red-headed stepchild now, so we have nowhere to go.

Sounds like the next beta could be the release candidate.

Not really surprising, given the update before last, was pretty major for xbox users, so they’d need to see how that worked out.

so probably a couple more weeks until release and marketplace opened !?

Why is that? Despite the bugs both 2020 and 2024 can be used. It’s not like both of them don’t work at all.

What’s rally sad is I hope it stays this way for a while at least. How often have they introduced weird bugs in an SU for then to let us hanging for months?

Especially in VR which receives absolutely zero attention or even testing. If they break 2020 for us accidentally we truly have nowhere left to go.

No, they should take as much time as they need to avoid rushing out SUs like they often did in the past!

That’s not what I wrote. i never said they didn’t work at all, but in 2020, i don’t see evidence of any new development. In 2024 - do I need to go down the list of bugs? Most of the time I just spin when I choose an airport, sometimes I don’t even get a start button, the controller setup, too many clicks to select a plane, 2020 mod support, the marketplace, etc.

And because of that, I don’t feel at home in either 2020 or 2024.

I was wondering about the part …

so we have nowhere to go

What’s keeping you from enjoying 2020 right now? That you “don’t see evidence of any new development”? Yes, 2020 has bugs, too. But I’m not too concerned about the fact that they are currently trying very hard to fix as many bugs in 2024 as possible. I’m sure they’ll get back to 2020 when 2024 has been improved significantly.

Re 2024

Most of the time I just spin when I choose an airport, sometimes I don’t even get a start button

I’ve experienced the spinning thing in 2024 just once, no idea what’s triggering that more often for others. On the plus side, it doesn’t take nearly as long to restart the sim as it did with 2020 to give it another try.

If you must know, I do like the Boeing 737 and the PC-24 so I’m leaning more toward 2024 for now (bugs notwithstanding). After the disastrous launch, I was in line with everyone else to condemn what happened, but I also believe they’re making gains against the problems.

In my statement, I was specifically referring to how I feel AT THIS MOMENT. We’re several months in to 2024 and there are still major bugs that I feel should have been resolved before launch, and as stated, I have trouble even getting a flight started.

As for the spinning, after a LONG time of testing, for me it seems like it could be related to the DLSS/TAA setting. I just found out late last night that when I use TAA, it doesn’t lock up, but clearly much more testing is required.

My problem this is if you’re one of the poor souls out there who wants to stay on 2020, then I guess too bad for you. Again, a later release of 2024 could have allowed them to split their emphasis. Of course I have no idea how many people are on the 2020 team vs the 2024 team so that may be a moot point.

I’ve had quite a bit of problems with DLSS on 2024 (even though I have not switched DLSS DLLs or anything like that) but not really with loading into a flight. More about blurred instruments even in quality mode, so I’m using TAA right now. It’s so hard to put a finger on what might be the cause for an issue. One day everything just works fine, the next day my FPS are horrible. I just hope they collect enough telemetry data to figure out those issues. :person_shrugging:

That’s the part I don’t get. One day I’m thinking that they might have finally gotten this figured out, then the next day, bam, back to the stone ages.

BTW, I want to thank you for asking honest questions and giving me fair feedback.

I’m not sure what’s too bad about it? 2020 still works, and it’s amazing. 2024 is naturally going to get the focus being the new platform, and considering how unready it was at release, it sure needs it.

2020 is supposed to get a certain level of continued support, but only time will tell what exactly that amounts to. For now 2024 is the future, of course, but 2020 is still here rocking it in the present. This mixed landscape isn’t what I would’ve done (2024 should have been much closer to finished/stable/you name it before releasing), but at least we have 2020 to continue using while 2024 closes in on a beta state.

Sure you do. I am trying out a competitors flight sim right now. It might not look as pretty but at least it works.

Despite the Devs insisting that 2020 would continue to be supported, I imagine any code changes will only address catastrophic failure. 2020 won’t get any new features, Whatever state it’s in right now is the state it will be in for maybe 2 more years. Once 2024 stops being the alpha/beta unfinished product that it currently is then 2020 users will get left in the dust. As it’s impossible to freeze an operating system’s state anymore (MS forces system updates) eventually you’ll have to buy or upgrade to 2024 or switch to Xplane. I ignored any statement to the contrary of this the first law of the software jungle. Every software company has to build in expiration otherwise they lose revenue stream. The Monetization Execs run the company not the devops guys.

I was explicitly referencing future enhancements, or what I perceive to be the lack thereof. I would love to see MSAsobo prove me wrong, so we’ll see.

Why being frustrated about an unknown future? Nobody knows what will happen in the next months. Keep cool, take a deep breath, enjoy what you like today and be curious about what’s coming. Why make life more difficult than it already is?

My Personal Comment & Observation
Whilst I would not expect to see any major changes to the architecture of 2020 (e.g. career-mode), AFAIK 2020 still is on-track to have more World and City updates planned. From The December Development Livestream:

Actually I was referencing changes to the architecture of 2020, but that other stuff is cool too. Any and all changes are welcome.
