Living in France I have been looking to see if the huge wildfires are showing in real time but nothing is showing. I know it’s not strictly weather but I thought maybe there is a way. Any ideas please? The worst are just west of Bordeaux, home of Asobo
Not possible in base game at the moment but you might want to check the addon ‘Wildfires’ for MSFS24 by CHEYENNE DESIGN edit: it’s even on sale now I see.
What is needed is someone to write a mod to read real-time fire data, populate the flight simulator and program the visuals.
This is interesting to me. How the forum has changed. When I posed a thread about lack of fires in the sim back in the early days: California smoke - non existent! - #12 by Angels1000 I was vilified and made to feel like a disgrace. Someone even said it was the “worst thread ever” and “should be shut down”. “People are dying and you’re complaining about lack of smoke”… I was so ashamed I asked for it to be closed. Yet here we are now… and we have mods even to show the fires in real time.

Here in France the latest situation around Bordeaux is terrible as they cannot get it under control. Yesterday they started using the Airbus A400 to dumps fire retardant. In the Aussi group we use a plug-in that visualized actual fires in MSFS 2024. Here is a link to the operation as conducted in Spain.

going in at 120ft, avoid smoke at all costs(not modelled in the sim), 15 missions per day, 10.000+ hours stick time, analog cockpit, oh man we are amateurs here…
The Saharan dust in the Caribbean (sand from the Sahara Desert in Africa literally blows across the entire Atlantic Ocean and can be quite visible in real life) can be seen in the sim, so I would not be surprised if large amounts of smoke were. Makes me wonder about the Canadian wildfires now that I think about it.
