First tests with the RTX 5090

That should be fine with a 5080.
I honestly don’t know what you need for a triple-monitor setup.
Obviously it will depend on what resolution and scaling you are using.
I think DLSS 4 will be the ticket to give you good options. This video suggests that even with DLSS Performance, which upscales 1080p to 4K, the video looks good using Preset J.

My ‘guess’ is that a 285 / 5080 combo will run 3 x 4K screens well using DLSS Quality and 100% scaling. But that’s just a somewhat educated guess…

I agree. The RTX 4090 does a good job at running fs2020 in VR on my 5k+ Pimax in VR with most of the bells and whistles turned on. It came included in a rig which didn’t cost much more than the price of the 5090. From the benchmarks l’ve seen so far about a 25% increase in fps could be expected for your $4040 in Australian dollars. And if that doesn’t put you off the power consumption and heat generated is a worry. I have water cooling but if you don’t I would be worried that the CPU might throttle itself back to prevent overheating defeating any hope for gains in extra fps

So 4 days from sale day and no one here has one to give us an idea of how it performs

I imagine most were picked up by scalpers. I didn’t even bother waking up at 6am even tho I’ve kinda decided on a 5080 for my next upgrade. I’ll wait till they’re readily available!

I’m waiting for what they release to bridge the gap between the 5080 and 5090, 5080 super or 5080ti, whatever it is. 5080 is a bit underwhelming and 5090 is a bit too much.

If AMD does well, the AMD 5080 TI/Super will be the actual upgrade they were supposed to do with this gen, which is 4090 performance (and even that would be underwhelming vs historical gains)

Yep. Founders edition cards in Europe were grabbed by bots from the exclusive retail shop and sold out half an hour before the official release, according to pcgamershardware (in german).

5080 is far faster than my 3080 and supposedly cheaper than 4080’s. At least the other day they were going for less. That’s about the top end of my budget.

I will look into AMD. I really dislike Nvidia and I’d love it if AMD had something competitive. I used to be AMD exclusive for GPU’s but when I got my 3080 they (AMD) had questionable VR support and that was my primary purpose for upgrading.

My step father retired from Intel and his opinion is that GPU’s were expensive to make and they felt there wasn’t enough profit in them. Plus, creating fab labs for them would cost billions and take years. They also have a policy of attempting to hit the entire PC market. They don’t want to do niche stuff. This was the story I heard for all the decades he was working there at least.

My thought is that with the current market, they’d have to spend tremendous amounts of money to come up with something competitive to AMD and Nvidia who already have years of running starts. In their current situation, it may not be even be possible to take such a thing on. They’d want to go for mainstream cards that’ll ship in every PC out there.

“most demanding” = “least optimized”

Maybe, but it seems doubtful. Their only competition is AMD and they trade spots with them. Nvidia is a different product and not competition.

Honestly, one of best thing I bought for msfs 2024  everything full ultra, 4X FG, 0 stutters. just works perfectly  around 150FPS on ground with vatsim traffic in a380

did you set terran LOD and objects LOD to max?

I got the 5080 and also got 140fps in the A380 8K with traffic and ultra in EDDF Frankfurt from Aerosoft in 5120x1440 ultrawide and only 300watt

max and beyond

Yeah, you can get over 60 fps in msfs 2024. The cost of 5090 is at least about 3000 euros and currently no available.

Keep in mind that these tests done in a 60+ fps environment.

VR Meta Quest 3

Hi

My MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16GB Suprim SOC is comming in the end of March. I am curious of reviews of FS2020/FS2024 in a tripple 4k setup with both RTX 5080/5090. I maybe will sel the RTX 5080 and go for MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32GB Suprim SOC. Is there some reviews out there yet?

Best regards Fredrik

Sadly MSI increased 5090 prices https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1iii706/msi_just_raised_all_5090_prices_on_their_website/
