I really think this can be better if they can do what they did with the planes and get a 3rd party to take over the wrather. Meteoblue isnt the answer. There are many good weather companies and producers out there to take over and create a better weather system.
Meteoblue is not the issue. It has tons of useful data, much better compared to everything we had in Xplane/FSX or P3D.
The problem is in the integration between Meteoblue and Asobo, which never really worked properly⦠and thatās up to Asobo.
Iā¦beg to differ but to each its own. It showed in earlier SU that it favored the local area of meteoblue in the UK than anywhere else in the world before metar⦠but like i said to each its own. Everyghing is 3rd party made. Orbx to ini to titleworks except weather.
Hope msfs2024 has the ability to make the wing view vanish when entering clouds/fog/thunderstorm or snow blizzard
Thereās a maxim in engineering that states:
If you canāt make it perfect, make it adjustable.
In this case, āmoddableā should be the last word of this very wise sentence.
In fact, my choice of whether or not to purchase FS2024 is just about entirely dependent on Asobo providing full SDK control of weather and its effects.
FS2020 had a HUGE downgrade in overall cloudscape quality since SU-7, and this has not been redressed ever since. Frustration over this has caused myself and many others to put the game aside and await new developments.
ā¦in the meatime, the clouds in DCS look amazing - and their devs actually TALK to ppl, you know, like proper human beings.
Since Iām here, why donāt we see any of the atmospheric or weather effects on the plane itself?
E.g. when going through clouds, it looks like my plane is still flying under an open sky. When thereās rain, hail or snow there are no physical effects on the plane in external cam.
Is this deliberate? If it is, it kinda sucks!
There is an existing wish for that request:
Doesnāt seem like this and the weather physics improvements are going to be addressed per the January 31 Live Development! Not even on their radar apparently. Lots of good things coming with SU15 which is exciting but the weather stuff are not included! Sad to have a flight sim with no cloud turbulence when using live weather!
I ran some tests a while back, recording footage of me flying into a storm, and recording simvars as I did so. There is more turbulence but it didnāt knock me out of the sky.
Probably want to move that aspect of the discussion to that threadā¦once Iāve located where I posted that too. Back soon.
It looks like that thread got 30 day locked.
@hobanagerik @BossRaccoon7630, consider it opened!
Sooooo, I was very disappointed (and surely many more than I!) to hear nothing but CRICKETS and confused faces on the latest dev stream, when in the last dev stream Seb talked for quite a while about a great chance of improvement on cloud density.
Here is the November 2023 dev stream with a very positive outlook from SEB; which he says has a great chance of cloud density update in SU15 (@ 52:53): https://youtu.be/n0Ugsjs-Os0?t=3053
And then the very next dev stream, just a few days ago in the January 2024 edition, NOW the dev response is ādeer in the headlightsā, ānothing but cricketsā and no idea what weāre asking? https://youtu.be/D6yCff8SgXk?t=5349
Like really? Iām over it - the devs keep on hyping these changes then BOOM all the air is let out in the next communication. It really is disappointing. Just donāt even talk about it then - just tell us it isnāt planned, OKAY? Although I love this Sim, Iām tired of this kind of crap.
I kinda feel the same about the snow coverage issue. Over a year ago (Developer Live Stream November 18 2022) they said they were going to talk about the snow coverage issue with Meteo Blue during their next quarterly meeting.
Well, itās now quite a few quarters later and the result? Well ⦠on this weekās developer live stream Jƶrg said they were going to talk about it with Meteo Blue soon. Any day now ⦠really ⦠honest ⦠just a matter of time ā¦
Any bug logged, they are going from top priority to down on the list and itās logged already, no need to wait on Q@A about this.
I donāt know whether to laugh or cry when I read āthey are going from top priority down the listā. This very wishlist thread has content I posted in a bug thread about clouds being too transparent. The bug reports get dissected, their contents and votes moved about and the original threads deleted.
And then they ignore what half of us want anyway⦠so what does any of our bug reports really matter?
Exactly. Transparent all-puff clouds are not an undesired feature, they are a bug introduced between SU 5 and 7. Any MS activity regarding this bug during the last two years is pure cosmetic and PR.
Iām willing to bet that 2024 will restore some of the other cloud formations we used to see prior to SU5, and they most likely wonāt come back for 2020. Just a hunch, and happy to be proven wrong.
Whether that means we get denser clouds or not, I donāt know. With what limited time I had with XP12, I noticed there too that if you flew a plane into thick cloud, paused, then pulled the camera back away from it, the same thing happened. The plane did not disappear into the clouds as you pulled away. Not sure of the terminology, but some depth buffer type thing perhaps.
Be open and optimistic about 2024 until we read black and white about it detail for detail and user on user reviews who get it before the general public.
I hope MSFS 2024 will include a new weather engine with realistic clouds
What do you mean by realistic? Like physics of a relastic clouds or just the textures? Because these are 3D rendered clouds so textures probably wont happen
I mean the density
