Flightfx Citation X

Après de nombreuses activations / désactivations, activation de la version 2020 et plusieurs relances du jeu, je peux enfin voir les écrans et tout fonctionne.

>Translated: After many activations/deactivations, activation of the 2020 version and several relaunches of the game, I can finally see the screens and everything works.

Just purchased on 2024 marketplace but somehow want to try it in 2020 first. How long should I wait for it to appear in my 2020 library? Or should I contact MS support just like another addon everytime I want to transfer my purchase?

We haven’t had too many people buy it that way. I’d say you should open a Zendesk and advise your exact situation. I know the automated provisioning is about 48 hours at the most 2020→2024, but they may need to do it manually the other way.

I did not. Man that was to obvious. Ill give it a try.

The plane is beautiful, but what’s the problem with the co-pilot’s avatar? Am I weird, flying alone for three hours sucks… but what does it cost you to put that ■■■■ avatar? However, after the initial enthusiasm, the product is once again useless on Xbox, with stutters and FPS drops that ruin landings and takeoffs. It costs 30 euros, and you can’t use it. Nice, but I should buy a PC. Are you kidding?

Just for fun, go do some circuits in this beauty. Try out different flap settings. Very impressive!

Good evening, yesterday I was departing from Zurich LSZH. It was very cold, with severe icing conditions, fog, and freezing rain. I was online on VATSIM flying the Citation X.

LSZH 202350Z AUTO VRB01KT 0500 0400E R14/1000U R16/0750U R28/0600N R34/0600N PRFG VCFG VV002 M04/M04 Q1014 REFZDZ TEMPO VV001

On the first startup, the aircraft shut down by itself after a few minutes while the error “aircraft malfunction, engine malfunction” appeared. I restarted and tried again three times, always encountering the same problem. (I searched on Google and read that this has also happened with other aircraft, always in very cold conditions.)

I restarted everything and, aware that the issue was the intense cold, I turned on the anti-ice systems immediately after engine start. I also avoided staying at idle, keeping the engines warm. In this way, the engines continued to run normally. I taxied, but once holding short of the active runway and bringing the engines back to idle for the before takeoff checklist, despite the anti-ice systems being active, the aircraft shut down again.

Question: shouldn’t the aircraft remain running if the anti-ice systems are on, or is it always necessary to keep a bit of throttle applied to avoid this problem?

Thanks to anyone who would like to help.

I’m curious if the GND IDLE HIGH/NORM switch helps with this.

I didn’t try; I’ll do later tonight

Try turning off failures or engine failures in the assistance options. Same thing was happening on the PMDG 777 and their advice was to turn that off.

I heard about it, but it sounds a little bit funny: engine malfunction due severe icing conditions is a feature not a bug.

Are you getting an ENG A/I COLD message on the ECAM when this is happening?

Regardless, I really don’t think that the engine should be flaming out in icing conditions with anti-ice on, even at low power settings. There should still be enough bleed air for it to operate properly. But make sure your pacs are on low, as setting them on high can rob bleed air used for anti-ice.

“Extreme cold” ground precautions really don’t begin until -10°C, and ramp up the colder it gets.

That’s not the intended usage of that mode.

What is the intended use of that mode?

It’s used for touch and goes so the engine doesn’t automatically go into low idle 8 seconds after touchdown. It’s also used to clear FADEC faults.

Also for smooth taxiing, it is very useful.

According to this video of real-world operations, that switch is specifically intended for ground icing conditions before taxi.

Sounds good for a real-world workaround. The manual specifically says it’s used for the two things I mentioned and nothing else.

Also, that video is for the “Citation” and shows a 525. Does it include the Citation X (750)?

In the demonstration video of operations in icy conditions, the real pilot of the Citation (525) explains that that switch is in fact used for something else. That’s enough for me.

So I’m planning a round the world trip and had a few requirements:

  • Good views out of the cockpit (as I’m taking a scenic route)
  • Solid systems and fidelity
  • Straightforward NAV
  • No airliners or bush planes. Taking a lot of stops
  • Good speed and maneuverability

The top two contenders were the BSQ Starship and BSQ TBM 850. The Starship Nav gave me hearburn (I can use it well enough), but the thought of squinting and craning my head to the G430 at the lower center console gave me nightmares, though of course I could just use the native.

But then the Citation X caught my eye. Now, has airliner type capabilities in that it can go a long way and ultra high altitude, but it was small enough to allow me to land in interesting airports.

So I picked her up.

Flew a test leg on her.

Boy is she nice, and pretty sure she’s gonna be the plane.

What I Liked

  • Incredibly fast. She is a rocket ship!
  • The view! I think the best cockpit view outside of Bush planes and super small planes. Just great view and sitting position. Love it.
  • Nice model.
  • Fidelity was maybe a “B”? Yea, it ain’t BSQ by any stretch of the imagination. I do enjoy the detailed engine management, pressurization and temp controls in the BSQ planes. I didn’t get a sense it had nearly that type of depth. But it was “enough” for me to feel authentic.
  • I liked the AP and FMC system. Not exactly a Fenix or PMDG set-up, but it worked well with enough complexity to keep it interesting.

What I don’t like

  • The screens are not nearly bright enough! Uggh…hope they fix that. I cranked everything up with all the right knobs, and yea, had to squint to see anything. Big big issue but not a deal breaker. Just hope they fix it. Need to crank up the brightness or give us the option to do it.

Quirks

  • Maybe just me (or hardware, as I had some issues configuring my VF Ruddo pedals), but boy is she squirly on the taxiway. Super sensitive.
  • No free streamdeck profile. They have a paid one that I might pick up, but in light of the screen brightness issues would like a robust Streamdeck XL profile to make life easier.
  • Landing rudder reaction was a little odd. I typically don’t have any problems landing center runway, but she got away from me a bit. Still a decent landing at 180 FPM and 1 G but waaay to the right of the runway. Just takes getting used to the rudder. Not sure what was up there probably pilot error.
  • No free liveries? Or maybe I just missed them.

All in all, she handled my first flight from cold/dark effortlessly. Did KBFI (Seattle) to GBZN (Montana) via RNAV approach and was super fun.

So super happy with the plane and almost certain this is gonna be a top 5 plane in my payware collection. Money well spent and hopefully the developers update and improve upon it.

Did you try with the CRT screens or the LCD ones? Certainly in VR, I find the CRTs easier to read, but still need to turn up the brightness on them a little bit.
