Fly any helicopter with an Xbox gamepad

Fly any helicopter with an Xbox gamepad if you want with my settings. Calibrate it like I show in the first video, and use the right trigger RT in Collective Axis, and the laterals right stick as Tail Rotor Axis, and the left stick as cyclic. To trim it use the right stick up/down in combination with other handy comfy key, to release the rotor trim I use the middle button of the right stick, and Y and B as increase decrease collective buttons when trimming it. I do not use “set rotor longitudinal/lateral trim”, they are like don´t work for me or what they suppose have to do, and break my trim setting when I press them, I have to seek info of what that has to do and how.

Much much much better for me than the MSFS predefined helicopters gamepad. And each helicopter you can save a different configuration of secondary buttons if needed.

I read someone like an RC helicopter, to have in the right stick the collective and pedals, I prefer mine.

Would be ideal like others flight simulators have, that the triggers were with full movement, and not half movement one, and the other trigger the other half, and not needed then to adjust like me in that way.

And the left trigger you can use it like brake axis, better for tail wheel aircraft and regulate better the brakes pressure, to not kiss the tarmac with the nose.

Thank you, incorporating your setup it is first time I feel like having control in chopper. Just bought r66 and after 2 days on full realism and elite 2 gamepad, Im able to fly easily and land safely - not very accurately but time will tell… Finally there is a light in a tunnel :+1::blush:

How do you look around in the cockpit if you use the right stick as the anti-torque pedals?

I use VR, if I am in 2D (“never”) I use the mouse when in land, and only when it is trimmed in flight, and the same for the circle external view in VR too I use the mouse and right click, or when in Drone mode in VR and in the air too with the game pad and well trimmed the 407 and not during too much seconds haha.

In 2D (Xbox) is less precise a less easy to flight them for me and in Virtual Cockpit camera. In external view like a RC model I have not experience and I can´t in that way without to learn it during many many hours sure.

Yes, with perseverance and dozens of hours and enjoying it during the process, and linking your brain to the new control assignments more and more, you will tame those horses and after you still will do it better and better after and learning more and more an manoeuvres etc. etc. in the learning curve.

For me the MSFS predefined controls are terrible, easier with pedals-rudders when you have a position where you know that is centred or the collective-throttle to know where is it and to measure better your inputs and bla bla bla, than buttons, for me.

I have the Elite 2 and one old Xbox controller as spare, and practically is the same also.

In the Elite I have the A unassigned and bound with other buttons and sticks cross-piecee etc., and I press it easy, with the Elite´s under lever, the under left-down lever, assigned to X without release the other controls e.g., an in the right stick I have trim up down+X and in the cross sides the lateral trims+X, though those are personal preferences not better than others, and some of other buttons bound too, mostly of those, in other heli profile for the HPGs 145-160 etc..

With MSFS 2024 there is no way if Asobo does not solve this problem, now even I can´t workaround the curves to make them almost full linear movement, and make able to fly helicopters or throttles with an axis properly.

A pity, the new helipads everywhere are great.

I did a request though I doubt they do ANYTHING like with 2020, and then a problem for Xbox Gamepad users.

Hey, just checked and your great xbox/heli setup is killed in 2024… Shame, shame how could they make so big step backwards in so many areas? :-1::sob:

Just fly with all the heli assists on!
Its great for stability and for landing in 2024!
Never used them in 2020, but the game is better with them on, but not the 407 or any of the ”cyclic yaw” chopper, since that unrealistic behaviour isnt even handled by the assists! :joy::joy::joy:
You shouldnt fly a heli with an xbox controller anyway!

with the gamepad setup of JGL574VRG2 it was fun and challenging to fly choppers in fs2020 (full realism), I did a huge progress then, now all is gone with awful control setup in fs2024

Alleluia, I checked with the new beta and the gamepad curves are working and I found something similar:

Thank very much you again  Maybe I will give 2024 a try? . BTW what about white dot triggering click zones in cockpit after su1? I couldn’t fly 2024 as I was constantly trapped on some button, doesn’t matter if it dasbled/visible or not…

No idea, I did only yesterday a test in FS24, I fly only FS20, and in each FS24 update I test it again a bit to watch the progress, and maybe now the time to begin to fly in FS24 is near.

In PC with FSUIPC7 solved also.
