Hopefully an update with some new goodies soon?
There will certanly be more updates.
Floats are comming next for the S6S, possibly some other additional features. Cant speculate exact date though.
Not sure why I didn’t check this topic more closely before but I feel like I really missed out!
Grabbed it today after reading through this thread and seeing the very positive comments.
I thought (as others have said) that I have enough bush planes, but they are my favourites to fly so can never have too much choice I suppose ![]()
It is really REALLY nice! Super modelling, gorgeous fluid handling, spot on sounds (flying with the doors open, yay!). Really nicely involving to fly and manhandle it. Totally my sort of plane!
Unless I am imagining things, the trim is inverted? I mean doing nose up makes the nose go down and v.v.?
Also shame it does not model any engine damage such as shock cooling or over-revving killing the motor? Or maybe I just haven’t yet let the temps get out of control and it does have some ill effect?
Anyway I agree this thing needs a lot more attention. 82 posts - come ON!!! This is TOP quality folks!
You can never have too many bush planes and this one is a great one.
Man there are a lot of aircraft fighting for my time and love these days!
Couldn’t resist making a little video of a very tiny little bush trip ![]()
Enjoy!
ok - but you fly as if there is a complete, state of the art trauma ward in your back pocket…or as if this were just a simulator. Approved!
I thought you would have had this day one. Welcome to the party!
Hehehe. Well I can always fly to the nearest hospital… oh, wait a second

Yes! I was shocked this wasn’t more popular. The flight model is really top notch. I don’t find the trim inverted? The dev has said there will be more updates, I also floated the idea of some engine modelling. Anyways, glad you are enjoying. One of the things I have read about the real S6S is that the flaps are SUPER ineffective. I find this in the sim airplane too. It is hard to slow down and descend in short order.
Maybe it’s my force feedback settings then. I’d be very surprised if this was an oversight (bug) and no one else had noticed so must be something my end. Will check it!
Really? After getting used to the Comanche, this slows down like you flown into some floating treacle for me.
Not as “slowable” (is that a word?) as Wilga for example, so I suppose it depends what you’re comparing it to. ![]()
But yeah it’s really great and definitely unique enough to have in the old bush hangar!
I just wanted to say that the trim is working correctly for me.
Yes it is for me also today. Very weird! I thought maybe it was just the tail dragger but tried all 3 and they work correctly now so no idea what was up with my PC the other day ![]()
one of the ‘features’ of FSX that was carried forward in MSFS is the ‘what is THIS now?!’ random and unrepeatable events that we all LOVED so much - yeah?
Based on all the positive feedback here I bought this plane today and really enjoyed my first couple of flights. Quite similar to the //42 Kitfox, which I also like a lot. But I always wished that Kitfox had analog gauges, and that’s exactly what we get here. Plus the stall behavior is much closer to what I would expect from a bush plane.
Loving the S6S, but I keep looking at the empty slot in the 6-pack and wishing there were an HSI of some kind in there. That would just be the icing on the cake of an already highly successful FS aircraft. I’m almost tempted to try and mod it myself, but I just don’t have the time right now (I have never done an FS mod so I anticipate an intense learning curve). The HSI is one of those instruments that really helps me to think things through, as well as being useful for navigation. Someone advised me to just keep an E6B in my pocket, but I’d have to break immersion to use it (unless there is a VR E6B somewhere). Anyway kudos to Flyboy Simulations, this plane is a real gem!!
I am fallowing closely what you guys are typing here and anywhere else. All the requests will be taken into consideration.
There will be more updates on the S6S. Floats as promised is the one that will come next for it. Currently am a bit busy with working on my next project and am a single dev so work on s6s is bit slower than usual but it is very well an ongoing project that will possibly grow more in future together with me as a developer. I am negotiating with microsoft currently and expecting to get s6s for xbox soon. Thank you all for the support.
Still loving this!
My one wish is for some dusty/slightly weathered versions of the liveries to reflect where I fly. The Gran Canaria bush strips are excellent for example and I would love to have some sense that the aircraft is used in these environments (and not washed every day).
Oh, man… does that mean it’s going to change the color of the dirt depending on where the plane is flying, like, red around Sedona, etc., etc.?
Well, dynamically created dust would be excellent, but I’d be happy with a less than pristine exterior.
Is anyone else having problems with the Flyboys Rans S6S autopilot? Most times, when I engage the autopilot, as soon as I press the altitude hold button, the plane goes into a steep dive and in seconds exceeds the never-exceed speed and breaks up. Sometimes, if I fight the autopilot with lots of backpressure on the stick, and try to manually hold it at the current altitude, over a period of several minutes the autopilot slowly calms down and starts holding at the original altitude. Other times it never calms down so I just have to not use it.
There are other related weird features such as, once I press the altitude-hold button, it is impossible to turn it off (I can disengage the whole autopilot but then I lose the navigation-hold capability, too). Or, when I disengage the autopilot, the aircraft goes into an abrupt massive climb and stalls within a few seconds.
Is anyone else having these problems? Does anyone know of a solution?
